Configure SPLM 2012 On Windows 7 Laptop: 2. Configure A Static IP For Loopback Adapter
1) Log on to the
Properties button.
8) Select Use the following IP address option, then manually type in
an IP.
For example, IP 192.168.0.1, with Subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.
(Check with your IT department if youre not sure which address is
available to assign to
it)
9) Click on OK to dismiss the Internet Protocol TCP/IP Properties
dialog.
10) Click on OK to dismiss the Loopback Adapter Properties.

3) Open Control Panel > View by Small Icons > click Device Manager
> Open Network
Adapters list.
4) Click View on the menu bar > click Show Hidden Devices.
5) Right-click on the adapters and disable ALL network adapters
EXCPT the Microsoft
Loopback Adapter in the list.
6) Select Start > All Programs > Intergraph SmartPlant License
Manager > Generate
Machine ID and save to a text file such as c:\MachineID.TXT.
7) Back to the Device Managers dialog window, right-click and
enable all the previously
disabled network adapters.
8) Send the Machine ID file to your regional office or contact
Intergraph eLicense at
PPMSERV@INTERGRAPH.COM to request a license key. Do not
generate Machine
ID again after you sent out your Machine ID file to Intergraph and
before you
install your new license key.
9) Open SPLM and select Install and Remove > Install License Key to
install the license
key you received from Intergraph.
1) Make sure your laptop works when its connected to the network:
a. Open SPLM > Configure and Test > Select License Machine for
Client
b. Type in your laptops node name, and click OK.
c. Test Seat Reservation > select your laptop as license server and
the product tag >
click OK. A license should be reserved successfully.
d. Make a note of the Seat number and click Close button.
e. Test Seat Release > type in the seat number and click OK. The
license should be
released successfully.
2) Now disconnect from the network, test seat to make sure SPLM
works too.
3) Now you should be able to start your application.
NOTES:
1) If your Windows 7 machine has User Access Control turned on
and you need to run pdlice
commands in Command Prompt, then you must right-click on
Command Prompt and open it
with Run as administer option. Otherwise, the commands may
result in errors.
2) If your laptop is configured as a license machine, and it has
Embassy Trust Suite or Panda or
MacAfee or Norton Antivirus software installed and you are getting
SPLM failed: [reading
socket] connection reset by peer message, you will need to
uninstall the anti-virus software
on your laptop.
3) If you have VM installed on your laptop, and you need to run your
application from VM and
pull license from your laptop, you need to add your laptops node
name as license machine in
SPLM client inside VM. Please refer to documentation Configure
SPLM 2012 Client in
VMware for more details.
