NCII-CSS GUIDE

COC 1:
INSTALL AND CONFIGURE
COMPUTER SYSTEMS
2 Hours
A. Disassemble and Assemble Computer
Hardware
1. Prepare all tools needed in disassembling the PC
2. Remove all accessories like bracelets, earrings, rings or necklace
3. Ground yourself or wear an anti-static wrist strap
4. Unplug all cables connected to the system unit
5. Remove the outer shell/casing of the system unit
6. Remember or label the wires where they are connected
7. Remove the system fan (some units have system fan)
8. Remove the CPU fan
Disassemble/Assemble Desktop PC cont’d
9. Remove the power supply
10. Remove CD/DVD Drives
11. Remove hard drive
12. Remove RAM (Avoid touching the gold part, hold it side-by-side)
13. Remove power button, power led, hdd led
14. Remove the motherboard
15. To assemble, just follow the steps vice versa
B. Configure BIOS
1. Search in the web what is the BIOS of your unit (ex: BIOS for asus)
2. Not all units have the same BIOS key, but some units used F2 for
accessing BIOS
3. Press F2 continually after you pressed the power button
4. If in BIOS already, configure the system time and date
5. You can also enable the boot menu
6. Configure the boot priority and set fdd as your first priority
7. You can also configure some functions in BIOS to access your flash
drive
C. Prepare Installer
1. Before anything else, access first disk partition to check what is the
partition of your hdd
2. Press windows+r then type diskpart, hit enter then ok
3. Type list disk
4. You can see if your partition is in gpt or mbr partition
5. Prepare your rufus, ISO file (win 7 and R2), and flash drives
6. Create a bootable drive using rufus
D. Install Operating System
1. Plug in your flash drives in the system unit
2. After you configure BIOS, your flash drives will be automatically
booted
3. Just press okay until you’re on the installation.
4. Select custom install
5. Partition the disk (Depends on the assessor)
6. Select the disk where you want to install the OS
7. It will took a minute to install just remove the bootable drive after
the PC restarts
E. Install Application Software
1. Open drivers pack and install necessary drivers
2. Restart your computer after installing
3. Install MS Office
4. Install Anti Virus

SET UP COMPUTER
NETWORKS
2.5 Hours
A. Network Cable Splicing
1. Prepare 6 meters UTP cable and 15 pcs RJ45
2. Create 2pcs – 3ft Straight Through Cable
3. Create 3pcs – 1ft Straight Through Cable
4. Create 2pcs – 5ft Patch Panel Termination
B. Perform Cable Management
1. Install Raceway
2. Install Conduit Box/Modular Box
Note: Configuring a router depends on the brand
and model of the router this means that
configuration screen may be different on each
other BUT the basic functions are still there
C. Setup Router/Wifi/Wireless
1. First, reset the Wireless Access Point by using a stick or a pen and press the
hole for 10 seconds and wait until it restarts
2. Open web browser (IE, Google Chrome, Firefox)
3. In the address bar type the IP address of the router (Ex. 192.168.1.1 or
192.168.0.1)
4. Type the router administrator username or password (Ex. admin, admin)
5. In the router’s configuration screen, look for Basic Setup
6. Disable DHCP Server
7. Change the Time Zone (Ex. GMT+08:00 Singapore, Taiwan, Russia)
8. Click Save Settings below

9. Click Wireless Setup tab
10. Click Manual Setup
11. Type SSID of the Wi-Fi (Ex. SURNAME)
12. Click Save
13. Click Wireless Security
14. Click WPA2 Personal in security type
15. Type Wi-Fi Password (Ex. CSS_PASSER)
16. Click Save
D. MAC Filtering
1. Open web browser (IE, Google Chrome, Firefox)
2. In the address bar type the IP address of the router (Ex. 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)
3. Type the router administrator username or password (Ex. Admin, admin)
4. In the router’s configuration screen, look for Wireless Setup tab
5. Click Wireless MAC Filtering
6. Get the MAC address of your server, client and laptop by:
a. Windows+R
b. Type CMD
c. Type ipconfig /all
d. Locate the Physical address(MAC Address) of the computer
e. Copy and paste it to a notepad
7. Type the MAC address of your computer in the MAC address textbox
8. Choose if you want to permit or prevent the connection (allow or deny)
9. Click Save
E. Adding Static IP Address in Server
1. Right Click Network Icon near the system clock (bottom right)
2. Choose Open Network and Sharing Center
3. In the left side, Click Change Adapter Settings
4. Right-click Local Area Connection then choose Properties
5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click Properties
6. Click the option: Use the following IP address:
IP address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
7. Click OK then Close button
F. Internet Sharing
1. Connect your laptop to your wifi
2. Go to network and sharing center
3. Find your wifi
4. Right click then properties
5. Share network

SERVERS
1.5 Hours
A. Installing Domain Controller with DNS Server
Role(Server)
1. Press Window Button + R or click Start then choose Run
2. Type dcpromo and press enter
3. Click Next button
4. Click Next button
5. Choose Create a new domain in a new forest then click Next button
6. Type the name of FQDN of the rest root domain (Ex. tecarro.com)
then click Next button
7. Select Windows Server 2008 R2 in the Forest functional level then
click Next button

8. Check or make sure DNS Server was checked then click Next button
9. Click Yes button
10. Click Next button
11. Type the Restore Mode Administrator Password then click Next
button (Ex. CSSLab_2019)
12. In the Summary page, click Next button
13. Active Directory will install, check Reboot on completion
14. Server will automatically restart
B. Adding DHCP Server Role (Server)
1. Click Start button
2. Got to Administrative Tools
3. Click Server Manager
4. Locate Roles Summary then click Add Roles
5. Click Next button
6. Check DHCP Server in the list of Roles
7. Click Next button
8. Click Next button
9. Make sure the IP address of Server (192.168.1.2) has a check then click Next
button
Adding DHCP Server Role(Server)
10. Type 192.168.1.2 in the Preferred DNS Server IPv4 address text box
11. Click the Validate button(It should be VALID after clicking the button)
12. Click Next button
13. Click Next button
14. Click Add button on the right side to add scope
15. Type the scope name (Ex. Css_scope)
16. Type the Starting IP address: (Ex. 192.168.1.10)
17. Type the Ending IP address: (Ex. 192.168.1.100)
18. Make sure Activate this scope has a Check then click OK
C. Adding File Server Role (Server)
A. Setting-up File Server Role (Server)
1. Click Start button
2. Go to Administrative Tools
3. Click Server Manager
4. Locate Roles Summary then click Add Roles
5. Click Next button
6. Check File Services in the list of Roles then click Next button
7. Click Next button
8. Click Next button
9. Check File Server
10. Check Filer Server Resource Manager
11. Click Next button
12. Check Local Disk C: and Local Disk D: then click Next button
13. Click Next button
14. Click Install
15. Click Close button
Adding File Server Role (Server)
B. Sharing Folder (Server)
1. Click Start button then choose Computer
2. Double click Drive D: to open
3. Inside Drive D:, Right click then choose New then click Folder(New Folder)
4. Rename the folder as redirection (folder)
5. Right click the redirection (folder) then choose Properties
6. Click Security Tab
7. Click Edit button
8. Click Add button
9. Type Everyone then click Check Names button
10. Click OK button
Adding File Server Role (Server)
11. Select Everyone then Check Full Control
12. Click Apply and OK
13. Click OK button
14. Right-click redirection (folder) then choose Properties
15. Click Sharing Tab
16. Click Advance Sharing
17. Check Share this folder
18. Click Permissions
19. Check Full Control and Change
20. Click Apply and OK
21. Click Close button
D. Enabling Network Discovery Client
1. In your client-PC, Right Click Network Icon near the system clock
2. Choose Open Network and Sharing Center
3. In the left side, Click Advance Sharing Settings
4. In the public and Home or Network Sections enable the following:
 Turn on network discovery
 Turn on file and printer sharing
 Turn on sharing so everyone with network access can read and write files in
the Public folders
 Turn off password protected sharing
F. Enabling Network Discovery Server
1. In your Server-PC, type services .msc in run command
2. Set to automatic and enable the following services: Discovery Publication, SSDP,
UPnP
3. Right Click Network Icon near the system clock
4. Choose Open Network and Sharing Center
5. In the left side, Click Advance Sharing Settings
6. In the public and Home or Network Sections enable the following:
 Turn on network discovery
 Turn on file and printer sharing
 Turn on sharing so everyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders
 Turn off password protected sharing
G. Connecting the Client to the Server
Computer
1. In your client-PC, click Start
2. Right click Computer then choose Properties
3. In the left side, Click System Protection
4. Click Computer Name tab
5. Change the Computer Description to the name of the user you created in the server (Ex. Client1)
6. Click Change button
7. Type the Computer Name base on the name of the user you created in the server (Ex. Client)
8. Click Domain in the Member of frame
9. Type the domain name you created in the server (Ex. tecarro)
10. Click OK
11. Type the username and password of the user/client to confirm
12. Click OK and Restart your user/client computer
H. Ping the Server:
1. Go to the Client-PC
2. Press Window button + R or Click Start then Run
3. Type cmd then press enter
4. In the command prompt type: ping 192.168.1.2
J. Ping the Client:
1. Go to the Server-PC
2. Press Window button + R or Click Start then Run
3. Type cmd then press enter
4. In the command prompt type: ping 192.168.1.XXX  (IP of client)
K. How to Monitor the Connection of Client in the
Server
1. In your sever, Press Windows button + R or click Start then choose
Run
2. Type cmd and click OK
3. In the command prompt type net sess
4. Press Enter key
L. Remote Desktop
A. Install Remote Desktop Services (Server)
1. Click Start button
2. Go to Administrative Tools
3. Click Server Manager
4. Locate Roles Summary then click Add Roles
5. Click Next button
6. Check Remote Desktop Services in the list of Roles
7. Click Next button
8. Click Next button
9. Check Remote Desktop Session host then click Next button

10. Click Install Remote Desktop Session Host Anyway
11. Click Next button
12. Click Next button
13. Make sure Do not require Network Level Authentication was selected then
click Next button
14. Choose Configure later then click Next button
15. Click Next button

B. Enabling Remote Desktop (Server)
1. Click start
2. Right click Computer then choose Properties
3. In the left side, click System Protection
4. Click Remote tab
5. Select Allow connections from computers any versions of Remote
Desktop (less secure)
6. Click Apply and OK
Remote Desktop
C. How to Access Remote Desktop in your Laptop
1. Click Start
2. In the search box type: Remote Desktop
3. In the search results, click Remote Desktop Connection
4. Type the IP address of the server or computer you want to connect
(Ex. 192.168.1.2)
5. Click OK or press Enter key.
M. Print in Server
1. Connect the printer to the server
2. Open start button and type ‘add printer’
3. Add the printer and set the host IP to 192.168.1.3
4. Install the drivers
5. Go to devices and printer
6. Select the printer and share
7. Open Notepad and type your full name
8. Print
Print in Client and Laptop
1. Open run command
2. Type \\192.168.1.2 (to access host or sever)
3. You will input the credentials like username and password
4. Double click the shared printer
5. It will automatically install the drivers needed
6. Open Notepad and type your full name
7. Print
8. Do step 1 – 8 using your laptop.
9. Make sure that the laptop is connected to your wifi

A. Back up and Restore
1. Go to start menu
2. Type backup and restore
3. Back up your drive C to Drive D
4. Make sure you partition your drives
5. Click okay then back up
B. Create System Image Restore
1. Go to start menu
2. Right click my computer and select properties
3. Select System Protection
4. Click create and type the name/description
5. Click create
