The document discusses an Indian Standard about slotted countersunk flat head tapping screws. It provides information on the standard's adoption from an international ISO standard and details on specifications, materials, dimensions and other requirements.

The standard IS 7170:1989 establishes specifications for slotted countersunk flat head tapping screws of common head style. It is based on an international ISO standard with some additions in the national annex.

Major changes in this revision include changing the countersunk angle from 80 degrees to 90 degrees, redesignating screw types, dispensing with screw size numbers and redesignating sizes by nominal diameters prefixed with letters ST.
