March 2010
Dear Baseball Parent:

Attached you will find a 2010 application for the Jackson Hole Youth Cal Ripken Baseball league for 7-12 year old boys
and girls. Please take a moment to complete this application in its entirety and turn it in as soon as possible.

All players will be placed on a team regardless of their ability. The objective of the league is for kids to learn about and
play baseball and we expect all players, parents and spectators to maintain a high level of sportsmanship. For their
participation, players can expect playing time in all games, a team hat, team jersey and, hopefully, a lifetime of fond
memories playing baseball in Jackson Hole.

Fees for playing are only $50; however, we do expect all players to sell or purchase at least $50 worth of raffle tickets as
part of the League’s fundraiser. Details of the raffle will be distributed after the season starts.

If your son or daughter has not played in the league before, please attach a copy of his or her birth certificate to the
application and mail it to the address noted above.

The structure of the league will be identical to the prior year:

Rookie League – Pitching Machine only, 7 & 8 year olds, Games Tuesday & Thursday
Minor League – 9 & 10 year olds, Games Tuesday & Thursday
Major League – 11 & 12 year olds, Games Monday & Wednesday

Practices should start the week of May 3rd with regular season play starting the week of May 10th. The regular season will
end before June 30th with the playoff games starting that next week. The regular season should be finalized by July
th
10 .

Tryouts for the Minors and Major Leagues are held so that the coaches can evaluate every player’s ability, resulting in a
draft process that achieves evenly balanced teams. Tryouts for the Major League will be held on Tuesday, April 27,
2010 and tryouts for the Minor League will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Both tryouts will be held at 4:00
pm at the Alpine Field between the Middle School and the new Colter Elementary School. Rookie league players do not
tryout; they will be placed on a team the first or second week of May and, subsequently, notified by their coach.

For those players who desire more baseball and a higher level of play, the league will also have an All-Star program for
the 9 & 10 and 11 & 12 year old divisions. Participation in the all-star program will be by invitation and the invitations
will be extended to players who display desirable characteristics including attitude, sportsmanship, coachability and
physical ability to play at this higher level. These characteristics will be evaluated by the selection committee starting
with the initial tryouts and extending through practices and regular season play up to the date the selections are made. If
your son or daughter is selected to play on the all-stars, you will receive additional information at that time. Please watch
for additional information regarding the all-star program.

If you have questions or would like to know how we could use your help as a volunteer, please call me at home 734-5599
or on my cell at 690-4334.
