Drifter rods

DRIFTER RODS
The ideal drifter rod should have four
basic properties:
Stiffness, to minimize energy losses and
optimize hole straightness.
Toughness, to prevent the steel breaking
when subjected to high bending stress,
e.g. as a result of heavy hole deviation.
Fatigue strength, to withstand variations in
compressive and tensile loads.
Resistance to wear, to ensure that the
threads have long service life.

CARBURIZATION
In the carburization process, carbon is imparted to the
surface of the rod at high temperature.
After that the rod is cooled by quenching.
This gives the rod a very hard surface layer and high
wear resistance.

ADVANTAGE WITH MAGNUM SR COMPARED

TO THE STANDARD SYSTEM
This drifting system is adapted to the new generation of powerful hydraulic
rock drills.

Considerably better rod life due to the ingenious design of the system.
Better service life of the entire drill string, better availability and less wear
on the rock drill and the drill rig components due to easy uncoupling and
fewer tensile shock waves in the string.
Easier collaring and straighter holes due to a stiffer drill string (H35 vs.
H32).
Increased service life on the rods with 25-70% compared to standard R32
drifter rods.
Very high operator acceptance due to easy uncoupling of the drill bits.
Flushing capacity (round 39 mm 14,5 mm vs. hex 32 mm 9,5 mm).

SECOROC TC35 IN UNDERGROUND

SECOROC TC35
Based on the same technology as the Secoroc Magnum SR but with a conical
trapezoidal thread .The TC35 system is used For cable bolting and production
drilling with hole diameters from 48-64 mm.

SECOROC TC42
Secoroc TC42 The ideal tunneling and drifter solution
This 57-64 mm diameter system is at home in tunnels. Thanks to the selection of
extension drill rods, TC42 has become a popular choice among grouting drillers.

20-45 % more material (depending on model)

means a substantial increase in metal
fatigue resistance

42 mm (12132") diameter thread

39 mm (11732") diameter thread

Conical shaped T-thread facilitates

rapid coupling and uncoupling
More material between
skirt and bit head

SECOROC TC SERIES
Secoroc TC35 advantages:
Robust rods mean greater abrasion resistance and longer service life.
Stiffer rods prevent hole deviations.
The conical trapezoidal thread has 23-30 % more material than a standard thread
which means better wear resistance.
The time for bit and rod changes is reduced by almost 50% thanks to the TC
thread.
This new system results in better total productivity for the customers.
