Problem Approach
To construct chart of Pressure Traverse for Gas Wells.
Approach:
By using the provided AverageTZ.xls file, each gas production rate with different Tubing/Liner
diameter size is used to determine the best recommended for the mentioned gas production rate.

Discussions
Recommended tubing diameter for the above gas production rate is analyzed using a reservoir
pressure below 5000 psi from the chart with various tubing diameters.
For chart 1A, when the gas well production rate is at 100,000 Mscf/d, the optimum
recommended tubing diameter for this production is OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID: 6.276 inch) as it is
below 5000 psi reservoir pressure.
For chart 1B, when the gas well production rate is at 50000 Mscf/d, the optimum recommended
tubing diameter for the production is OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID: 6.276 inch).
For chart 1C, when the gas well production rate is at 30000 Mscf/d, the recommended tubing
diameter for the production is OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID: 6.276 inch) and 3.5-inch 12.7 lb/ft (ID:
2.75 inch), but for the optimum, the less pressure drop is better and take into considerations. For
the optimum, the OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID: 6.276 inch) is recommended.
For chart 1D, when the gas well production rate is at 20000 Mscf/d, the recommended tubing
diameter for the production is taking pressure drop into consideration is OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID:
6.276 inch).
For chart 1E, when the gas well production rate is at 10000 Mscf/d, the recommended tubing
diameter for the production is OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID: 6.276 inch).
For chart 1F, when the gas well production rate is at 1000 Mscf/d, the recommended tubing
diameter for the production is OD 7-inch 26 lb/ft (ID: 6.276 inch).
Conclusion
Designing and installation of tubing is important in a well completion because to enable the
fluids to flow efficiently. A small diameter of tubing causes large friction and limits the
production of a well whereas tubing that is to large in diameter may cause heading and also
unstable flow in a well. Hence, the correct use of tubing diameter permits better well control and
enhanced production rate.
