Feeding Program

Feeding Program
INTRODUCTION
In an effort to help the youths in disadvantaged situation,
we must vigorously push for more human resource development
programs and leadership capability building activities.
One common problem in our community is food. Almost
every Filipino is suffering hunger and is starving to death. That
affects our children and their growth. There are about 6 million
malnourished children on the Philippines. With the helped of every
foundation, organizations, individuals and our government. We
can start a program that could help the children on our society on
this dilemma.
Feeding program is the most outreached solution we could
offer to our society. Basically, its a best preparation to pre-school
students on public school so they will encourage to eat healthy
and their health are to be monitored weekly if there are any
progress and development.
SET THE DATE AND VENUE
When choosing a date and venue for the event, always keep
in mind this may still change, depending on the availability of the
guests, the volunteers, the venue, etc..
It may be wise to consider doing the event on a weekend,
since most people are free (no work, no school) during those
times. As for the venue, it would be appropriate to hold the event
near, if not at the site of the community.
OBJECTIVES
To improve the nutritional health of the student to stimulate
regular attendance at schools and also to introduce nutrition
PROJECT PROPOSAL
For the many underprivileged Filipino children, food isnt a
basic right but a luxury that their families cant afford. To organize
a new program, helping these children go up further and be part
of the mainstream, where they are no longer a liability to the
community. The Nutrition Component shall provide adequate food
with complete nutrients to the children. Many children are hungry
and are sickly; hence they cannot perform normally at home and
in school.
When you say malnutrition, it just means bad nutrition.
Malnutrition is the condition that occurs when your body does not
get enough nutrients. Everyone who has bad nutrition usually
does not have nutrients that a healthy body has.
Poverty is the main cause if malnutrition because people are
not able to eat the right kind of food they need. Lack of money
means lack of food and lack of food can lead to malnutrition. Kids
are usually the ones being affected by this condition, especially
here in the Philippines. Some may just shrug off shoulders in this
case but malnutrition is a serious national problem that should be
solved in the nearest possible time. This condition can lead to
death. But the big question is, how would we deal with this
problem?
1. Food
Dont forget to order extra, just in case more people show
up. Consider the ages and diets of the guests and the volunteers
as some might not eat certain kinds of food (i.e., most kids prefer
eating meat than veggies, while some religious communities dont
eat meat at all). Consider serving merienda especially if your
guests will be engaging in strenuous activities during the
afternoon. Some companies provide discounts for bulk orders (so
dont be afraid to try and haggle your way into getting 50% off!)
2. Transportation
Ask your contact if the fee already includes gas, drivers
meal allowance, etc., and if there are additional charges,
especially if theyll be coming from a different city.
3. Sound System
6. Restroom
Inquire if the venue has a restroom. If none is available, you
should consider renting a portalet. Have a stock of toiletries-toilet
paper, soap- ready.
7. Prizes and Giveaways
Should be uniform (i.e., give all the kids the same quantity
and brand of candies; all the girls get Barbie dolls while all the
boys get toy cars)
THE FLOW OF THE EVENT
Creating a draft of your program flow will help you determine
the materials and equipment you will need. This draft should
include the activities that you intend to do such as the games and
surprises and the meals that you plan to serve. Also, dont forget
to give time allowance to account for delays but, consequently,
be time-conscious so your guests wont get hungry.
In the case of our outreach program, we made sure that the
kids got the best treatment by including several games and
surprises. At the start of the program, we planned to greet the
kids with a photo booth, which served as one of their giveaways.
After lunch, we prepared parlor games, such as Newspaper
Dance, Calamansi Relay, Stop Dance, Open the Basket, and Bring
Me, to energize them. During the latter part of the program, we
also surprised them with the appearance of Santa Claus, who
then gave the kids their goodie bags. As for the meals, we served
pandesal for breakfast (for the team and the volunteers only),
chicken and rice for lunch (for everyone), and spaghetti for
merienda (for everyone). Aside from that, we also treated the kids
to ice cream.
