Dates
to Remember

Coming Up

Our current genres of study are

fables and folktales. We are
learning how to look at books
and recognize what genre they
belong to. We are also
responding to literature by
writing about the different stories
in our literature notebooks.

We are continuing to learn how

to participate in Writers
Workshop. Children are starting
their 3rd week of mini-lessons.
They are learning how to come
up with ideas and get them on
paper. They are required to
illustrated their story and write, in
their own way, what the story is
about. They then share their
stories with the class.

Science and Social Studies

topics will include learning
about Matter (solids, liquids and
gases) and Fire Safety.

During math, your child will be

learning how to compare
numbers to 10 and work on
counting forward and
backwards from a given
number (through 10).

Oct. 6: Fundraiser Kick-Off Rally

Fundraiser will be from October
11-14th
Delivery will be Nov. 15
Oct. 13: Fire Station Field Trip

This is a walking field trip.

Permission slips must be
returned.

What did you learn in

school today?
Nothing!
Is that the response you get from your
kindergartener?
Here are some things you can ask
your child about to get the
conversation started about what we
really do at school.

What are nouns?

What is the difference
between nouns and verbs?
How do you know if a story is a
fable?
What kind of tools do scientists
use?
Name your 5 senses.
Can you make an AB or AAB
pattern?

School Spirit

Weve got spirit! Yes, we do.
