Bijaya Tamang Area Of Triangles Unit Length: 45 minutes

Grade 6

Unit Overview

Main Idea (Claim) Summative Assessment

Area of triangles Test

Guiding Questions Objectives (know/understand/do/value)

Students will be able find the area of triangle

Can you tell the Able to find the height of a triangle given its base and
formula of square and its area
rectangle? Able to find the base of the triangle given its area and
height

Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies

15 min Beginning the Lesson:

Devotion( short prayer)
Recalling Prior Knowledge of the student and
checking what they already know
I. Teacher: Drawing rectangle, square,
Parallelograms, trapezoids, and
rhombus on the white board
II. Student: Will try to identify the figures
on the white board and tell the formula
they know to calculate them

Developing the Lesson:

20 min
1. Teacher: Will show how the Area of triangle =1/2 the
area of rectangle on the white board by drawing a
rectangle and cutting it into two halves by drawing a
diagonal
2. Student: will copy them on their notebook and will
understand why the area of triangle =1/2*B*H

o Teacher: Will define the term base and height of a

triangle
Base: any side of a triangle can be called base.
Height: the perpendicular distance from the base to
the opposite vertex of the triangle is called the height
of the triangle
o Student: will write them on their notebook and ask
questions they want to

a. Teacher: Will find the area of triangle on the white

board. ( In triangle ABC, AX= 14cm is perpendicular
to BC=10 cm.)
b. Student: will look at the white board and ask
questions they dont understand.
c. Teacher: Then ask them to solve questions from their
textbook page number 80, question number 3 and 4.
And will assist individually who have problem in
solving.
d. Student: will solve the problems on their own and
show answers

Teacher: will find the height of a triangle given its

base and area.( Area of triangle is 46 square inches.
GH=b=11.5 inch, h=?)
Student: will solve the problems from their textbook
(Page no. 81 guided practice 5)

Teacher: will find the base of a triangle given its area

and height (the area of a triangle is 36.5 square
centimeters. Height= 10 Find the base of the triangle)
Student: will copy it in their notebook and ask
questions if they dont understand and will do
questions 6 and 7 on page number 82.
10 min Closing the Lesson:
1. Ask formula and ask the term base and height
2. ask students to do homework from their textbook
( Practice 10.1)

Formative Assessment Differentiation

Instruct them to do practice

questions from their text book
