    Dear families,

    401 N. Irving Ave. I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break! It is now the last quarter
    of first grade with only 9 more weeks of school. Please continue to have
    Pam Selby Room 11 your student come to school on time and ready to learn every day.

    Progress reports will be sent home this Tuesday, March 17th. Please be
    pam.selby@tusd1.org
    sure to sign and return the envelope.
    This week is the Library Penny Wars fundraiser. Students may bring coins
    UPCOMING EVENTS to place in grade level boxes in the library. Pennies in the first grade box
    will add points to first grade. Coins other than pennies will be placed in
    March 16-29- Library
    other grade level boxes and will subtract from that grade’s points. The
    Penny Wars Fundraiser
    grade with the most points at the end of the week wins a prize. Go first
    March 29th- Awards grade!
    Assembly
    On Thursday March 29th from 9:00-10:00am, there will be an awards
    March 30th assembly to recognize students who received all 3s and 4s on their report
    cards.
    NO SCHOOL!! Good Friday
    Reading: We will start our new Harcourt Story “The Story of a Blue Bird”
    and we will be focusing on the new spelling pattern of the “igh” sound.

    Writing: This week for writing we are going to begin learning contractions
    and how/ when they are used.

    Math –For math this week we will begin a new unit on place value.
    Students will be learning to combine two digit numbers between 10s and
    1s place.
