the calculation “add 8 and 7, then multiply by 2” as 2 × (8 + 7). Recognize that 3 × (1 18932 +
921) is three times as large as 18932 + 921, without having to calculate the indicated sum or
product.
Rationale for Curriculum Use: Epic! Is a reading app that features access to over 25,000 books
and leaning videos; content is constantly being curated, and it can be used online and offline.
Students progress can be saved and emailed to the parents, so they can stay updated on their
child’s progress. The app will also offer personalized recommendations based on each child’s
reading level and interest. This is a great app for the classroom.
