Bitsboard is an app can be used in any content area out there. It lets you create sets of vocabulary
flashcards, where you can practice these words in various ways by playing different engaging games with
clear, attractive pictures. I would use this with my ELL students to help them with vocabulary and
language development. I can use this during class with students working in pairs to review vocabulary.
These flashcards could also be used at the beginning of a guided reading lesson so they can familiarize
with the vocabulary that is new to them. You can have students work individually, in pairs, or in a small
group. You can also differentiate your instruction because it is set on an individualized basis. Each student
could be practicing the board set that is most appropriate for them. As described from above, it meets the
CCSS in Literacy because the app focuses on assisting students in acquiring vocabulary.

Word Bingo is an app that is used in learning to read dolch words, which are common words that are
found in Kindergarten through 3rd grade reading material. You practice reading and learning these words
by playing various games to give the opportunity for students to practice. I would use this with my ELL
students to help them with their literacy development. You can have students work individually, in pairs,

Popplet is an app that is used in learning to organize students thoughts in an easier, comprehensible way.
I would use it as a teacher during instruction. For example, if the students needed to learn about the
seasons of the year, you create a graphic organizer web with text and graphics so they can visually
understand the concept. Students could use it as a planner for writing various genres of writing. Students
use this to think and learn visually. By capturing facts, thoughts, and images, students learn to create
relationships between them and generate new ideas. Use it for brainstorming, class notes, mindmapping,
and school projects. As described from above, it meets the CCSS in Literacy because the app focuses on
assisting students in organizing their ideas/thoughts as a way to plan for their writing.

BrainPOP Jr. Movie of the Week is an app that is used in learning various content. This app provides the
student with different animated movie every week, check out related quizzes, and educational activities.
This app spans subjects within Science, Social Studies, Reading, Writing, Math, Health, Arts and
Technology. The gentle, humorous, and relatable characters Annie and Moby serve as guides through each
topic, empowering kids to form their own ideas. The content that it provides is designed to cultivate
critical thinking skills, encourage children to ask questions, and make connections. This could be used
when students are at the gathering stages of collecting research for written report on a given subject. As
described from above, it meets the CCSS in Literacy because the app focuses on assisting students in
gathering information as a way to help them answer questions that they may have about a particular topic,
which can be later added to a writing component.

According to Davies (2011), TPACK stands for technological pedagogical content knowledge, which is a
framework to help teachers understand, evaluate, and promote effective technology integration. TPACK is
described accurately when classroom teachers understand content they are teaching and know the best
way to teach it, and then effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the learning process. As
an ELL elementary teacher, I understand the content I am required to teach and the best way to teach this
involves differentiation and collaboration. Incorporating reading and writing skills into my classroom
will benefit students not only in their language development, but across the curriculum. Each app that
was discussed above, assignments can be differentiated to meet the needs of the individual learner, which
is the best way to scaffold for your students.
