Brief Description of the Proposed Research Project:
In the world, clean water that can be used for domestic purpose is not more than 2% of
the natural water resources of the earth. (Source; WHO, 2009).This is very small in amount of
wholesome water comparing with the saline water body. As the result of this the world is faced to
the shortage of sufficient access of safe drinking water. The developing countries of the world are
specially affected by the problem of safe access of drinking water supply. This is because of the
lack of technologies and financial supports to utilize their water resources.
People from isolated areas has a hard time to find safe drinking water. They got
contaminations due to the bacteria from the unsafe water that they drink. The researchers wants
to design and develop machine that treats water to make it a potable one. It can be useful to
communities where lack of safe drinking water is a problem.
The project objective is to treats water to make it a potable one. The main parts of this
projects are a pump, a delivery pump, valves, ceramic filtration, ceramics for taste and doors,
activated carbon and ultra violet stabilizers.
Through a pump, it will harvest water to be filled to our reservoir. We will have a
conductivity test where we can identify if the water collected can be converted to a potable one.
If the water is potable, a ball valve will open and is now ready to undergo the treatment process.
It will go to the ceramic filtration where bacteria will be removed. After that, it will go to a
ceramic filter which will regulate its odour and taste. An activated carbon is also there to
removes the impurities of the water. For the final process, an ultra violet stabilizer will remove
the smallest particle that is not filtrated in earlier process. Now, the water that will go out to the
machine is a potable and safe water.
