The document outlines the procedures and safety precautions for running casing on an oil rig.

The main steps involve lifting the casing onto the rig, connecting joints using tongs, stabbing joints into the rotary table, and continuing to run joints downhole.

Safety precautions include not standing in certain areas, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good condition, starting jobs slowly, and maintaining good communication.

FRANKS FILL UP & CIRCULATING TOOL STABBING BOARD [FUNCTION TESTED
IN ADVANCE]

2. SAFETY INFORMATION AND PRECAUTIONS

HOLD A PRE-TOUR OR PRE-JOB SAFETY MEETING.

DO NOT STAND BETWEEN CASING JOINTS, COMING ON TO THE DRILL FLOOR,

AND THE JOINT IN THE ROTARY TABLE.

DO NOT STAND BETWEEN CASING TONG AND ROTARY TABLE.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR, OR ADJUST, MOVING PARTS OF A CASING TONG

WHEN STILL UNDER POWER.

WHEN STEADYING CASING JOINTS, NEVER PLACE FINGERS OVER SHOULDERS

OF THE PIN OR BOX.

ENSURE THAT ALL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT ARE IN A CLEAN AND SERVICEABLE
CONDITION.

ENSURE THAT THE WORK FORCE HAVE BEEN FULLY INSTRUCTED ON THE
CORRECT PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED AND THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS TO
BE OBSERVED.

DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE RIG OR CASING TONGS WHILE THEY ARE IN USE.

DRILLER WILL NOT LIFT ANY JOINT OF CASING WITH THE SINGLE JOINT
ELEVATOR, UNTIL HE CAN SEE THE SAFETY PIN IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY.
ENSURE SOFT CONTACT BETWEEN SINGLE JOINT ELEVATOR AND CASING
COLLAR. WHILE JOINT IS BEING PICKED UP DERRICKMAN AND FLOORMAN TO
KEEP SIGHT OF SAFETY PIN. ENSURE SAFETY PIN AND CHAIN ARE ATTACHED
PROPERLY, AND PIN IS A SNUG FIT THROUGH THE LATCH.

START THE JOB SLOWLY UNTIL EACH CREW MEMBER IS FULLY AWARE OF THE
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS AND WHAT HIS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE.

SAFETY AND REDUCED HANDLING TIME DEPEND ON TEAMWORK AND

CONSTANT AWARENESS.

FOR NIGHT SHIFT OPERATIONS ENSURE THAT THE STABBING BOARD IS FULLY
ILLUMINATED.

NOTHING MUST BE DROPPED INTO THE CASING WHILE IT IS BEING RUN.

ENSURE THAT THE WORK AREA IS CLEAN AND FREE OF OBSTRUCTION. ENSURE
THAT ADEQUATE NON-SLIP FLOOR MATTING IS LAID TO PROVIDE SAFE FOOTING.

RUNNING CASING
NOTE : DO A TOTAL PIPE COUNT AND CHECK AGAINST THE RUNNING
LIST, THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF PIPE TO BE RUN AND THE NUMBER OF
JOINTS TO BE LEFT OUT . THERE SHOULD BE A MINIMUM OF THREE
RUNNING LISTS USED AND CHECKED OFF . EG : DRILLER; AIR HOIST
OPERATOR; DECK CREW.

3. PROCEDURES
3.1 FOR RIGGING UP
IF IT IS NECESSARY TO CHANGE TO CASING RAMS, REFER TO CHAPTER 1-25.

3.2 FOR RUNNING CASING

1. LIFT THE CASING FROM THE PIPE RACK AND LOWER IT ON TO THE
CATWALK.

2. ENSURE CASING JOINTS TO BE LIFTED ARE LEVEL AT THE PIN ENDS AND
ATTACH SLINGS. ( DECK CREW )

3. USING THE HIGH LINE, TRANSPORT CASING FROM CATWALK TO RIG

PACKAGE, LOWER THE CASING INTO THE V-DOOR AND CASING STOP
GENTLY TO PREVENT CROSSING THREAD PROTECTOR.

4. LOOK DOWN SHOE JOINT AND FLOAT COLLAR JOINT TO ENSURE NO

DEBRIS INSIDE.

5. RELEASE SLINGS AND RETURN HIGH LINE TO TENDER FOR THE NEXT
BUNDLE OF CASING JOINTS.

6. USING THE SINGLE JOINT ELEVATOR ON THE MAIN BLOCK, LIFT THE
CASING. ATTACH A ROPE ACROSS THE V-DOOR POSTS TO PREVENT
CASING FROM SWINGING.

7. REDUCE MANIFOLD PRESSURE, OPEN HCR, CLOSE BLIND/SHEAR RAMS.

(IF FOR A GOOD REASON THE RAMS ARE NOT ALREADY CLOSED).

8. MOVE SHOE JOINT OVER THE ROTARY TABLE AND RUN THE JOINT IN 10'
+/-, SET THE SLIPS. INSTALL SAFETY CLAMP.

9. RELEASE SINGLE JOINT ELEVATORS. LOWER TRAVELLING BLOCK AND

CLOSE SIDE DOOR ELEVATORS.

10. LIFT CASING AND PULL SLIPS. OPEN RAMS, CLOSE HCR, INCREASE
MANIFOLD TO CORRECT PRESSURE.

11. LOWER CASING AND INSTALL SLIPS. FILL CASING WITH MUD. LIFT

CASING UNTIL SHOE CIRCULATING PORTS ARE VISIBLE AND CHECK MUD
IS FLOWING FREELY FROM ALL PORTS.

NOTE: FLOAT COLLAR IS CHECKED BY LIFTING CASING 20

- 40' AND THEN LOWERING IT, CHECKING THE MUD LEVEL HAS
DROPPED BY SIMILAR AMOUNT.

12. RUN JOINT DOWN AND INSTALL THE SLIPS. INSTALL THE SAFETY CLAMP
AND RELEASE THE ELEVATORS. FILL CASING WITH MUD.

13. ATTACH SINGLE JOINT ELEVATOR TO THE NEXT JOINT OF CASING IN THE
V-DOOR AND INSERT THE LOCK PIN THROUGH THE LATCH.

14. THE DRILLER LIFTS THE CASING THROUGH THE V-DOOR USING THE
TRAVELLING BLOCK. CAREFULLY TAIL/GUIDE CASING PIN END FROM V-
DOOR TO MOUSEHOLE USING MANILA TAIL ROPE ATTACHED TO V-DOOR
POSTS.

NOTE: CARE MUST BE EXERCISED TO ENSURE RUBBER

PROTECTOR IS NOT PULLED OFF DURING THIS OPERATION. ( IF
USED )

15. HOLD CASING AWAY FROM ROTARY TABLE WITH ROPE, AND REMOVE
PROTECTOR. APPLY THREADLOK OR THREAD DOPE TO THE PIN END AS
PER INSTRUCTIONS.

16. STAB THE CASING PIN INTO THE COLLAR OF THE JOINT IN THE ROTARY
TABLE.

17. INSTALL BACK UP TONG BELOW CASING COLLAR AND LATCH CASING
TONG ON UPPER JOINT.

18. DERRICKMAN CENTERS CASING FROM STABBING BOARD USING THE

HANDLES ON THE SINGLE JOINT ELEVATOR. ( DERRICKMAN SHOULD
NEVER PUT HIS HANDS ON THE COLLAR, OR BETWEEN SLINGS.)

19. THE TONG OPERATOR SLOWLY ROTATES JOINT WHILE MONITORING THE
DERRICKMAN. WHEN SUFFICIENT THREADS HAVE ENGAGED,
DERRICKMAN RELEASES SINGLE JOINT ELEVATOR.

20. LOWER THE TRAVELLING BLOCK AND CLOSE SIDE DOOR ELEVATOR
AROUND THE CASING JOINT. TIGHTEN THE JOINT TO THE REQUIRED
TORQUE.

21. REMOVE SAFETY CLAMP, LIFT THE CASING OUT OF THE SLIPS AND RUN
THE NEW JOINT IN THE HOLE. RESET THE SLIPS.

NOTE: ENSURE THAT THE HAND SLIPS SIT SQUARELY IN

THE ROTARY TABLE AT AN EVEN HEIGHT ALL AROUND THE
CASING. SAFETY CLAMP AND BACKUP TONG WILL BE USED
UNTIL DRILLER DECIDES SUFFICIENT CASING WEIGHT EXISTS.

22. CONTINUE RUNNING CASING, REPEATING STEPS 12 TO 21 FOR EACH
ADDITIONAL JOINT, AND FILLING EACH ONE WITH MUD, UNTIL THE
OVERALL WEIGHT NECESSITATES THE USE OF SPIDER ELEVATORS AND
SLIPS OR BEFORE THE OPEN HOLE SECTION IS ENTERED.

PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING SPIDERS IS AS FOLLOWS:

(A) POSITION CASING JOINT SO THE COLLAR IS 6' ABOVE ROTARY
TABLE AND SET SLIPS. REMOVE SIDE DOOR ELEVATORS AND
INSTALL SPIDER SLIPS TO THE LINKS.

(B) LATCH SPIDER SLIPS ON CASING JOINT IN THE ROTARY TABLE AND
LIFT CASING 15' +/-, REMOVE HAND SLIPS AND ROTARY INNER
BUSHING. LOWER CASING AND SET SPIDER INTO ROTARY TABLE.

(C) REMOVE LINKS FROM SPIDER SLIPS AND INSTALL ON SPIDER

ELEVATOR. ROTATE BLOCKS SO LATCH FACES STABBING BOARD
AND LOCK ROTATING HEAD.

(D) INSTALL AIR LINES, ERECT STAGING AROUND THE SLIPS, INSTALL
ELEVATOR SKIRT SAFETY SLINGS AND ADJUST CASING TONG
HEIGHT.

23. CONTINUE RUNNING CASING UNTIL HANGER IS INSTALLED.

NOTE: SPIDER ELEVATOR MUST BE SET JUST BELOW

CASING COLLAR.ENSURE MAST LIGHT LENSES ARE CLEAN
FOR MAXIMUM ILLUMINATION FOR NIGHT TIME OPERATIONS.
HIGH LINE WINCH OPERATORS MUST MAINTAIN GOOD
COMMUNICATION VIA THE INTERCOM.

REFER CHAPTER 1-16. OPERATING HIGHLINE.

WHILE OPTIMUM TORQUES ARE GENERALLY GIVEN IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO
RUN SEVERAL JOINTS AND MONITOR BEFORE A STANDARD TORQUE IS
ESTABLISHED.
