I.OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of:
ethical standards in writing related literature
B. Performance Standard The learners are able to:
use sources according to ethical standards
C. Learning Competency The learners:
1. cites related literature using standard style
(APA, MLA or Chicago Manual of Style)
D. Learning Outcome At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to do the

For you to have a clear understanding to our
new topic, let us have first unlock some words that you
may encounter.
DIRECTIONS: Choose the meaning of the word from the

1. Magazines - A popular work published periodically focusing on
a specific subject of interest.
2. Newspaper - A periodical publication containing news, events,
interview and opinion article.
3. Computer - A collection of electronic materials that provides
information about a certain.
4. Journal - A scholarly work published periodically containing
highly classified research.
5. Film - A motion picture or movie. Can be fictional,
documentary or even YOUTUBE Videos.

Referencing Styles
APA (American Psychological Association)
- Is an author/date based style. This means
emphasis is placed on the author and the date
of a piece of work to uniquely identify it.
Ex. (Ramos, 2015) or Ramos (2016)
MLA (Modern Language Association)
- Is most often applied in the arts and
humanities, particularly in the U.S.A.
Ex. (Bautista 183), Flores et.al. 150-158)
(Acosta, Hizon, Lopez 235-240)
(Velarde 4: 389-403) – for periodicals
HARVARD
- Is very similar to APA. It is the most well used
referencing style in the UK and Australia, and it
is encouraged for use with the humanities.
CHICAGO AND TURABIAN
- Are two separate styles but very similar. They
are also widely used for history and economics.

GROUP 1
A. Many gave their comments about the medicinal
powers of amplaya. For instance, the latest study by
Santos and Gomez revealed that the juice of this
vegetable can be a good cure against diabetes.

Previous studies do not only serve as a basis for the
current study but more significantly, information culled
from the said sources can support in the process of
interpretation and analysis of data. Without library
sources, researchers will find great difficulty in doing a
study.
