MATLAMAT (GOALS) :
To provide students with fundamental knowledge about concepts on highway materials, pavement design,
highway construction, pavement management and maintenance and highway drainage.
SINOPSIS (SYNOPSIS) :
This Highway Engineering course is intended for undergraduate students in civil engineering. The course will provide an
essential engineering knowledge in highway engineering which covering the entire necessary fundamental needed for
practitioners at the entry level to industry. This course introduces students to applications of highway engineering as part
of civil engineering design, construction and maintenance works. In line with its main task, the scope of this course covers
central topics which ensuring an adequate grasp of theoretical concepts of highway materials, pavement design, highway
construction, highway drainage and pavement maintenance.
1. Analyze a pavement thickness design according to local and international standard specifications of road works.
[PLO 10 C4].
2. Organize in the group to conduct the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) in order to obtain the optimum quality of
the road surface according to the standard specification. Further with the suggestion and recommendation the
appropriate treatment method. [PLO 9 P4].
3. Recommend the suitability of highway materials comply both with quality assurance and control for highway
construction according to the standard specifications for road works [PLO12 A3].
TUGASAN (ASSIGNMENT ) :
Produce a video of laboratory work procedure for pavement design and determine its application in
JKR/SPJ/2008-S4.
PROJEK ( PROJECT) :
Conduct survey to the existing pavement condition and propose suitable actions for maintenance.
