Studies have shown that Engineering is the most demanding career option in the
country. Building your career in this field requires a lot of dedication and hard work.
The journey begins from getting enrolled into one of the reputed engineering colleges
and for this an aspirant has to appear for various state and national level engineering
exams those are accepted by these colleges.
While there is a list of National Level Engineering Exams like JEE Main which is
accepted by a number of engineering institutes in India, a number of state level
entrance exams are gaining popularity with the emerging number of state level
engineering exam toppers.
A student who has just completed their 10 +2 will be anxious enough to take the
second step towards getting enrolled into their choice of engineering college. Whilst
the availability of a number of reputed engineering colleges like IITs, NIT & IIITs, there
are state level engineering colleges as well. The states like Karnataka, Goa, Gujrat,
Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh conducts their own entrance
examination through which the candidates manage to seek admission into the
participating colleges.
National Level Exams are known to bring a number of opportunities and are a
gateway to seek admissions to the IITs, NITs & IITs, on the other hand, State Level
Engineering Exams also offer engineering seats to the candidates at some of the
reputed engineering colleges in the respective states. Further, these state level
engineering exam also broaden the chances of getting admission in a good
engineering college within the state whilst being able to live in the domicile state.
Shiksha interviewed a few of the state level exam toppers who shared their
preparation strategies and tips to crack the nut. This will further help the aspirants to
bag a good score whilst preparing to take the place within the top 5 or top 10 toppers
of various state level engineering exams.
Reading further you will get to take a look at the list of toppers for the past three
years’, and tips shared by a few of the exam toppers.
Dr. Abdul Kala Technical University (formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical
University) conducts Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination abbreviated as
UPSEE. It is a state level entrance exam for admissions to the professional courses
offered at the university along with institutes the affiliated institutes. Through UPSEE,
the candidates can seek admission at government aided as well as private unaided
institutes that are affiliated to UPTU along with some other state universities of Uttar
Pradesh. UPSEE is a gateway for admissions to 841 institutes of Dr. Abdul Kalam
Technical University (AKTU). Each year, over a lakh of aspirants appear for the exam.
Shiksha interviewed a few of the UPSEE 2017 Toppers. We have also prepared a guide
by collating tips from all the toppers – this will give the aspirants an idea about the
UPSEE examination and what it actually takes to become the topper of the Common
Entrance Examination.

The Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell) was established by the Government of Karnataka in
the year 1994 with the purpose of conducting Common Entrance Test. In 2006, the Common
Entrance Test Cell was converted into an autonomous body by the Karnataka state government.
The CET Cell was then renamed Karnataka Examination Authority.
The CET helped the admissions cell to determine the eligibility of candidates on the basis of
their performance, for admission of Karnataka state candidates and the wards of Jammu &
Kashmir migrants to the First year of full time professional courses against the Government’s
share of seats in Engineering / Architecture, Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine and
Homoeopathy, Farm science and Pharmacy. Since then, KCET has been used as a gateway to
offer admissions to interested candidates in various undergraduate as well as professional
courses, offered by different colleges in the state of Karnataka.
Shiksha got in touch with a few of the KCET Toppers. We have also prepared a guide by collating
the tips from all the toppers to give the aspirants an idea about the KCET examination and what
one must do to become the topper of the Common Entrance Examination.
KCET 2017 results were declared on May 30 on the official website of the KEA (Karnataka
