• Qualification Round is consisted of 2 phases.
- Phase 1 : Timed-Station Examination
➢ All participating teams will face Timed-Station Examination using specimen
on Laboratory of Anatomy Universitas Gadjah Mada.
➢ 60 questions, 30 seconds per question.
➢ Score : True (+1), False (-1), Blank (0).
➢ The members in each team will do the test individually.
- Phase 2 : Written Test
➢ Participating teams will face questions displayed on screen; answers are
written on sheets provided by GIMSCO 2017 commitee.
➢ 100 questions (70 short answer questions, 25 true or false questions, 5
narration questions).
➢ Score : True (+1), False (-1), Blank (0).
➢ The members in each team will do the test individually.
• The score from phase 1 and phase 2 will be added together as team score.
• 20 teams with highest team score will continue to Semifinal Round.
2. Semifinal
• Semifinal is held on Sunday, 19th November 2017.
• 20 teams which pass from Qualification Round will be divided to 4 divisions of 5 groups
• Questions must be answered orally for the whole round.
• Semifinal round is consisted of 3 parts.
o Part 1:
➢ Each team has to choose one from 5 question sets.
➢ Each set is composed of 10 questions from different anatomical systems.
➢ 15 seconds per question.
➢ Score : True (+10), False (0)
o Part 2:
➢ Each team has to choose one from 10 questions.
➢ Teams will be presented with anatomical system and the score of the question
ranging between 10 – 50 points.
➢ The chosen team can choose whether to “Answer” or “Pass”.
➢ If the team chooses Answer : Correct answer will be added to the team’s score,
wrong answer will minus the team’s score.
➢ If the team chooses Pass : The question will be passed on to the next team.
Correct answer will be added to the team’s score, wrong answer will not minus
the team’s score.
o Part 3:
➢ There are 15 questions in this part with each question’s score gradually
increasing from 10 – 100 along with the difficulty.
➢ A question will be displayed on screen.
➢ The team which presses the buzzer fastest can answer the question.
2
➢ Correct answer will be added to the team’s score, wrong answer will minus the
team’s score.
➢ Each team is given a chance to use helper “Final Effort” one time only in this
part. Using “Final Effort” will double the score for correct and wrong answer.
• Team with highest score from each division will be able to proceed to Grand Final (4
teams).
• Team with 2nd and 3rd highest score from each division will participate in Revival
Round (8 teams).
3. Revival Round
• Revival Round will be held after Semifinal on the same day.
• 8 teams from 2nd and 3rd highest score from each division of Semifinal will compete on
stage and provided with 1 buzzer per team.
• Questions must be answered orally for the whole round.
• Each team will be given 4 lives.
• The team which presses the buzzer fastest can answer the question displayed on screen.
• The team with correct answer will be given an advantage to subtract another team’s
lives by 1.
• Wrong answer will subtract team’s lives by 1.
• If a team gives wrong answer, other teams can answer the same question up to 2 times.
• If a team losts 2 lives, one member of the team has to retire from Revival Round.
• If a team losts all 4 lives, they will be withdrawn from Revival Round.
• The last team with most lives will proceed to Grand Final.
4. Grand Final
• Grand Final will be held after Revival Round on the same day.
• 5 teams (4 teams from Semifinal and 1 team from Revival Round) will compete on
stage.
• Questions must be answered orally for the whole round.
• Grand Final is consisted of 4 parts :
- Part 1: Picture Round
➢ Each team must choose 1 question set.
➢ Each set consists 6 question squares covering 1 picture.
➢ Correct answer will reveal the picture behind the squares.
➢ Wrong answer will darken the box and cannot be answered again.
➢ If a team can answer the structure pointed by arrow in the picture, they will
receive correct answer score AND bonus picture score.
➢ However, if a team cannot answer the structure pointed by arrow in the
picture correctly, they will only receive correct answer score.
➢ Team is given a chance to guess the picture 3 times for the whole round.
➢ Scoring system:
3
The amount of Correct Bonus
questions answer picture Total score (x +
answered score score [300/n])
correctly (n) (x) (300/n)
1 5 300/1 5 + (300/1) = 305
4 20 300/4 20 + (300/4) = 95
5 25 300/5 25 + (300/5) = 85
6 30 300/6 30 + (300/6) = 80
Example :
4
Team chooses to answer number 2, but the answer is wrong
5
The structure pointed by arrow is already visible; thefore, team can give the answer for the
picture (SUBSTANTIA NIGRA) .
If the answer for the picture is CORRECT Team get 115 as their score (3 question boxes
answered correctly + bonus picture score)
If the answer for the picture is WRONG up to 3 times Team get 15 as their score (only
3 question boxes answered correctly).
- Part 2 : Bidding
➢ 15 questions with short answer.
➢ Each team will be given 100 score at the start of Bidding Round.
➢ Scores from previous round cannot be used for bidding.
➢ Anatomical system of the question will appear on screen, and teams will be
given time to bid.
➢ The maximal bid allowed is half of the score owned by team and can only
be divisible by 5.
➢ Team with the highest bid has the right to answer the question.
➢ Correct answer will add the team’s score; wrong answer will minus the team’s
score as much as the bid.

When the round starts, team A has the lowest score compared to the other teams;
therefore team A has the right to choose the topic to their advantage. Let’s say team A
chooses Cardiovascular System. The question will appear on screen. Before team A can press
the buzzer, team C already presses the buzzer first, so team C can answer the question. If
team C can answer the question correctly, the screen will turn to this :
10 10 20
Neurological Urogenital
System System
10 10
Team C can choose either to continue with Cardiovascular System or go with other
topics. Please note that after the question is opened, other teams can snatch the question!
If a team gives wrong answer, then other teams still can answer the question up to
2 times. If after 2 times there are no teams who can give correct answer then the question
will be disqualified.
*The topics used in the example may differ from actual competition.
