CHAPTER 1: COMPANY PROFILE

I. Introduction

Hospitals are most widely known to offer healthcare services and one of the

places where memorable and unwanted things happen. Today, hospitals play a vital

role in the society. It helps to cure diseases and to treat different kind of illness. With

the help of doctors and nurses, they provide an adequate consultation with each of

the patient.

The first time that the hospital is built, it is committed to give safe and

excellent patient care. It accepts the challenges that will come and still give its best

to sustain the expectation its customer. Moreover, it continually improves their

facilities, services and social responsibility.

As part of work immersion, students were assigned to Skyline Hospital and

Medical Center to complete their 80 work hours with respective of their strand. It

will engage the students to the real-world and to the real work-place in order to

practice their self-discipline, communication skills and their determination to

perform the task. Finally, it will provide an exceptional learning experience that will

lead them to be a successful individual in the future.

II. Background of the Company

Skyline Hospital and Medical Center was established by five siblings of the

Baldonado family that founded on a vision to make quality healthcare accessible to

all Filipino families. It is a 7-storey building located on Skyline Drive Quirino

Highway Tungkong Mangga City of San Jose Del Monte Bulacan. The hospital

focused on a vision to be the most efficient and preferred hospital in the region.

That’s why it aims to always provide quality service, a comfortable environment,

and sincere care from all of its staff .

The logo of the Skyline Skyline Hospital and Medical Center has its own

history. It symbolized the siblings where the blue represents the one and only

woman in the family. It is also now considered as a secondary hospital in the

region. Furthermore, it was intelligently designed to make it conducive to healing

where there are spacious corridora, good ventelation, high ceilings and proper

waste disposal. It is also equipped with almost complete facilities.

There are a group of at least 250 dedicated people working together towards

a shared vision of healthier, longer, and better quality lives for all the citizens of

the City of San Jose del Monte and its immediate surrounding areas.

 Respiratory Therapist’s Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities


 Accompany the Respiratory Therapist
 Setting-up the nebulizer
 Helping assisting the patient
 Doing the reading of Arterial Blood Gas

To first start the day, I should write my name to the log book. I must greet

every person that I will meet inside the hospital and directly go to the Cardiology,

Neurology and Pulmonary or CNP Department. Together with Respiratory

Therapist, we should check the patient’s schedule and prepare the equipment needed

for the treatment. After that, we should go to the pharmacy and get the medicine for

the patient. In the patient’s room, we will inform him and the guardian that we will

start the treatment and wait until the nebulising is done. We will record all the

information about the treatment and the guardian will sign it. We will go back to the

CNP Department and the routine will start all over again.

Chapter IV: Summary of Experience gained

Work immersion was a remarkable learning experience. It taught me to be a

positive and a well-being person. I have a great time during my stay in the

Pulmonary Section (CNP Department) because a lot of lessons inspired me to

improve my character and attitude.

Mr. Jude Delos Santos, my Work-Immersion Supervisor, explained the

preparations, indications and contraindications in every process and treatment that

we are doing including the Pulmonary Function Test and getting the Arterial Blood

Gas. Ms. Shekinah, one of the Respiratory Therapist, trained me to do the actual test

to the patients to know the capability of their lungs. Moreover, I learned how to use

the Mechanical Ventilation and the Arterial Blood Gas reading device. I also tried

dealing with different kind of patients that has variety of personalities

Everyday, it is not imposible to share some thoughts in each other. Ms.

Sandy told me that I should not be afraid to try new things and to ask what I do not

know. Furthermore, she reminded me that nothing is too late and I should always

express my real self in eveyone. Most importantly, they gave me advice that I will

surely tressure and apply in my real life.
