    Chapter 3

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    In this chapter, the researcher presents the research design, research locale, respondents

    of the study, instrument and its validation, data gathering procedures and statistical treatment of

    data.

    Researcher Design

    A descriptive-quantitative type of research was used in this study. Descriptive-

    quantitative since it involved describing, measuring and superlatives. The descriptive – survey

    method was in the investigation with the primary purpose of ascertaining conditions which are

    common among the population of the study. The researcher made use of the questionnaire-

    checklist as the instrument in gathering the data needed for the study.

    Research Locale

    This study will be conducted at Guimba to Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. Guimba

    and Cuyapo , are a 1st class municipality in the province of Nueva Ecija, according to the census

    of year 2015the former has a population of 118,655 people. While the latter has the population of

    65,039 people lived.

    Respondent of the Study

    There will be 70 selected small business owners in Guimba toCuyapo who served as the

    respondents of the study. 35 of them are from Guimba and another 35 are from Cuyapo.

    Instrument and its Validation

    The researcher will formulated a questionnaire-checklist under the guidance and

    assistance of their research adviser. They will put into use the information and ideas that they

    garnered from books about the construction of data gathering instrument. Expert opinions of

    knowledgeable persons will be also beseeched. The instruments will be revised after its

    validation by experts in mathematics outside the area of the study. After its revision, this

    instrument will be ready for its administration to the respondent to gather the data needed in the

    study.

    To establish the validity of the questionnaires it will be tried out and submitted for

    checking and evaluation to the research adviser. Corrections and changes will be carefully

    integrated for the development of this research paper. Comments and suggestions will be taken

    into consideration in finalizing the questionnaires.

    Data Gathering Procedures

    The data gathering procedure of this study will be made up of three stages as illustrated

    below.

    Data Gathering Procedure

    To validate the questionnaire, the researchers will consult the school administrators and

    key officials who have extensive knowledge of what could be the factors affecting the failure of

    small business. The researchers will also sought official permission to float the questionnaire to

    selected business owner in the Guimba and Cuyapo.

    Statistical Treatment Data

    The data were gathered through the questionnaire-checklist accomplished by the

    selected senior high school students; data will be qualitatively described and analysed through

    the use of the following treatments.

    Frequency count – this count will use to determine the total number of the respondents

    who will choose a certain options.

    Percentage – used to determine what percent of the respondents variable choosing a

    certain options.

    Mean – used to determine the sum of all in value divided by the total frequency.
