    location by e-mail no later than 7 days before the audition date they have chosen on their application. All materials

    Stage Directors
    Please submit a one-page letter outlining your interest in, and goals with, Vancouver Opera.

    Pianists
    Candidate may be asked to sight read. Each applicant will be required to prepare four contrasting selections:

    • A solo piano piece that demonstrates technique


    • An aria in French, German or Italian (5 minutes or less) that will be both played and sung by the applicant with
    dramatic understanding
    • Two excerpts from the list below, to demonstrate the applicant’s ability to play while singing the vocal lines and
    following a conductor:
    Carmen – Act II quintet
    and
    La bohème – Act I or Le Nozze di Figaro – Act II finale

    Singers
    Each applicant will be required to prepare five contrasting opera arias, in at least three different languages
    (French, German, Italian, or English; however, other languages are acceptable). These are to be performed from
    memory and should represent the singer’s present technical development and ability.

    ∏ Proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status (a copy is acceptable);
    ∏ Current résumé of education and performance experience;
    ∏ The names and positions of two reference authorities who will submit letters of recommendation directly.

    Applications must be completed, signed and emailed to Vancouver Opera, no later than 5pm on
    Monday November 12, 2018.
