I. INTRODUCTION

Studying at a school or student life in general costs money. Every day, everyone
is spending for their habits and lifestyles. Cambridge Dictionary defined spending as
“the money that is used for a particular purpose, especially by a government,
organization, or group”. It is hard to predict how much money you’ll need for your
necessities.

In 2015, the students mostly spend their money on photocopies, modules and
other school projects. (www.educ.org) The researchers aims to know if the students of
today still spends most of their weekly allowance to the said school papers and projects
considering that our educational system recognises the use of electronic devices in
studying.

As a student, it is hard to manage money for there are several factors affecting
their expenses. Therefore, the researchers conducted a study about the expenses of
the grade 10 STE students of Novaliches High School that will assess the amount they
spend on a daily basis. Since the students have different habits (A habit is an acquired
behaviour pattern that is followed so regularly it’s almost involuntary)-
www.moneyhabitudes.com and lifestyles (a way of living of individuals, families
(households), and societies, which they manifest in coping with their physical,
psychological, social, and economic environments on a day-to-day basis)-
www.businessdictionary.com , the researchers wants to know the priorities of grade 10
STE students in spending their money.

This study also aims to know whether the students of grade 10 STE class save
their extra money for future projects and school papers or spends all their money
impulsively. Impulsive buying is the tendency of a customer to buy goods and services
without planning in advance. (economictimes.indiatimes.com)
II. METHODOLOGY

In this study a survey was administered to a selected sample from a specific

population identified by the researchers to assess the daily allowances and the amount
they spend as a student. The term ‘survey’ is commonly applied to a research
methodology that is designed to collect data from a specific population, or a sample
from that population, and typically utilizes a questionnaire or an interview as the survey
instrument (Robson, 1993).

Surveys are used to obtain data from individuals about themselves, their
households, or about larger social institutions (school boards). Sample surveys are an
important tool for collecting and analyzing information from selected individual.

First, to arrive at the given result, the researchers chose and designed a
questionnaire survey instrument to assess the grade 10 STE students of Novaliches
High School in accordance to their allowances and expense on a daily basis.

Before the survey is conducted, the researchers asked for the students’
permission to be in a video for documentation.

The researchers personally distributed the questionnaires and instructed the

respondents, specifically, 10 students in STE grade 10 level who were chosen to be the
samples of the study. Participants are going to answer it completely and they don’t
have to worry about the questions since it is valid and reliable in answering.

And for this reason, the researcher was meticulous to avoid constructing a
complex and lengthy questionnaire so that confusions and flummoxing of the students
will also be avoided.
While the researchers are selecting random students, they suggested that the
researcher do it in a survey interview because they are in a hurry.

IV. DISCUSSION

The significant finding of this study is that most of STE students that were
selected have an exact daily allowance for their necessities.

According to the data gathered, the researchers can conclude that the STE
students spend just like a regular student of Novaliches High School. Most of the STE
students spend their money on food; some spend their money for transportation. All of
the selected students also spend their money for their projects and photocopied
activities.

Based on the results acquired, the students of today do not spend most of their
allowance on school and paper works. Only 40% of the students spend most of their
money on paper works.

The grade 10 STE students of Novaliches High School prioritize and spend most
of their money on food. They also have extra money for their future projects and paper
works based on the question number eight.
