Lesson Plan in MAPEH 8

I. Standards/ Learning Competencies:

A. Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of common and distinct musical
characteristics of East Asian countries.
B. Performance Standard:
The learner is able to perform East Asian Music with appropriate pitch, rhythm,
expression and style.
C. Learning Competencies:
The learner is able to explain how East Asian music relates to its geography and
culture; listens perceptively to music of East Asia; and sing songs of East Asia;
D. Objective:
 Analyze representative songs from East Asia and describe how the
musical elements are used
 Described how the musical elements reflect East Asian culture
II. Subject Matter:
Reference: Grade 8 LM MAPEH
Materials to be used: Visual Aid Activity Sheet and Chalk

III. Teaching Strategies


1. Preliminary
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
2. Motivation
 Audio/video Presentation
 The teacher will ask the students “What can you infer from the given
music?
IV. Analysis(What to process/firm up):
Discuss how the musical elements reflect to their respective
culture such as the ff:
 Vocal Timbre
 Rhythm
 Melody
 Texture
 Form
V. Abstraction:
Draw out students opinion as to “How the musicality reflects their
culture”.
VI. Application:
The class are grouped into 3 and are going to sing the song based on
what they have picked.
Criteria:
 Clear tone quality-30%
 Correct expression and style-40%
 Correct pitch and correct rhythm-30% =100%
VII. Assessment:
Answer the ff. questions on your activity notebook:
1. What is the message and function of the song?
2. What instruments were used in the music as heard in the song?
VIII. Assignment:
The class will be grouped into 5. Each group will draw a creative
illustration on the relationship of man and culture as reflected in the
three folk songs you have learned
Present and described your illustration to the class.

Criteria:

Critical- 30%
Insightful- 30%
Revealing- 40%
100%
