circuit diagram.

Q29.A potentiometer wire of length 100 cm has a resistance of 10Ω. It is connected in series
with a resistance and a battery of emf 2 V and of negligible internal resistance. A source
of emf of 10 mV is balanced against a length of 40 cm of the potentiometer wire.
Calculate the value of the external resistance.

distance of the light source from the cathode is reduced, explain giving reasons, what
change will you observe in the photoelectric current.

respectively and then connected in parallel. Calculate the common potential across the
combination, the charge on each capacitor, the electrostatic energy stored in the system
and the change in electrostatic energy from its initial value.

Using Huygens ’ Principle draw a diagram showing how a plane wave gets refracted when it
is incident on the surface separating a rarer medium from a denser medium. Hence verify
Snell’s law of refraction.

In a young’s experiment, the width of the fringe obtained with light of wavelength 6000 A​o is
2.0 mm. what will be the fringe width, if the entire apparatus is immersed in a liquid of
refractive index 1.33?

Q37. Draw a schematic sketch of a cyclotron. State its working principle. Describe briefly
how it is used to accelerate charged particles. Show that the period of a revolution of an ion
is independent of its speed or radius of the orbit. Write two important uses of a cyclotron.

OR

State and explain Ampere’s Circuital law. By applying this law derive an expression for the
magnetic field due to a long current carrying wire.

any point outside a uniformly charged thin spherical shell of radius R and

the sphere is (i) Positive, (ii) Negative.
(b) A uniformly charged conducting sphere of 2.5 m in diameter has a
surface charge density of 100 µ C/m​2​. Calculate (i) charge on the sphere
(ii) total electric flux passing through the sphere.
