Okay so since we are already discussing about the


different qualities of assessment tools, I am here to
explain to you another important quality which is
PRACTICALITY and EFFICIENCY.

a. DURING THE LESSON


B. Abstraction

So for it to be considered a good assessment tool, it


has to be PRACTICAL and EFFICIENT. How can we
say that it’s practical and efficient?

It has to conform with the following principles or


guidelines.

1. Teacher familiarity with the method


Teachers need to be familiar with the
assessment. Know the strengths and
limitation therefore they can properly
interpret students’ responses. Taking an
unfamiliar assessment method creates a
risk on time and resources therefore, will
get questionable results from students’
responses.

2. Time Required
Multiple choice tests take a long time to
prepare but a relatively short time for
students to complete and for teachers to
score
Essay tests take less time to prepare, but
longer time to score
Performance assessments probably the
most time intensive

3. Complexity of administration
Assessment that requires long,
complicated directions and setup are less
efficient.
4. Ease of scoring
Scoring need to match your method and Answers may vary.

5. Ease of interpretation
Provide sufficient information so that
whatever interpretation is made is
accurate.

6. Cost
Assessments are inexpensive
