ANSWER KEY

Answers to probe the candidate’s underpinning knowledge

Extension/Reflection Questions
1. What is Lathe Machine?
 Lathe is a machine tool used principally for shaping articles of
metal (and sometimes wood or other materials) by causing the
work piece to be held and rotated by the lathe while a tool bit is
advanced into the work causing the cutting action.

2. Give some tool and equipment use in setting up wok piece.

 Lathe machine with complete accessories
 Dial indicator on magnetic stand
 face plates and weights
 3 and 4- jaw chucks
 Surface gauge
 lathe centers
 follower rest
 drill chuck
 lathe dog
 toot bit (momax)

Safety Questions
3. Why it is important to use personal protective equipment?
 Personal protective equipment can protects you from objects
falling on your head and, in a limited way, from electrical
shock or burns and cuts etc.
