COURSE DESIGN

COURSE TITLE : ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY COURSE

NOMINAL DURATION: 120 HOURS

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed and focus on the development of the four macro skills(Listening,
Speaking, Reading and Writing) with grammar and vocabulary. It aims to improve the trainees
with regards to pronunciation, enunciation, and articulation on the English language standards
and be understood in the world of business, university and in social interactions. The program
also includes lessons on basic grammar and common idiomatic expressions which will help the
trainees in everyday communications.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

Upon completion of this course, the trainees are able to:

1. Pronounce the 18 vowels and 23 consonant sounds, with the use of a speech laboratory
2. Pronounce the 18 cluster sounds, with the use of a speech laboratory
3. Speak clear and understandable English; and
4. Use common idiomatic expressions for everyday communication.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

●Filipino
●Male or Female
●Must be at least 18 years old
●High School Graduate

DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

 Photocopy of any of the following: (1) Certificate of Competency issued by TESDA (2)
Training Certificate from TESDA Registered Program (3) Diploma from Higher Education
Institutions;
 Photocopy of Birth Certificate from PSA to show that the applicant is not less than 18
years old;
 3 pcs 1x1 ID picture and 3 pcs passport size ID picture with white background and with
collar
 Certificate of Marriage

Note: Classes will be started upon completing 25 trainees per batch, UAQTEA grantees will
have 6 hours per day, 8AM-12PM,1:00 PM-3:00 PM, Monday-Friday.

TRAINING DELIVERY

The delivery of training should adhere to the design of the curriculum. Delivery shall be
guided by the ten (10) basic principles of competency-based TVET:

1. The training is based on curriculum developed;


2. Learning is modular
3. Training is learner centered and should accommodate individualized and self-paced
learning strategies;
4. Training is based on the task that must be performed;
5. Training materials are directly related modules;
6. Assessment is based on the collection of evidences of the performance of task to the
industry standard;
7. Training is based on and off-the-job training;
8. Training programs allow for the recognition of prior learning or current competencies;
9. Training allows for multiple entry and exit; and
10. Training programs are registered with UTPRAS.

Note: The course will be taught through face to face communication, the methodology will
include; workshops; blackboard teaching and audio visual aids where the focus is to
enhance the ability of clients through listening speaking, reading and writing skills,
grammar and vocabulary.

TRAINERS QUALIFICATION

Must be trained at the LSI by the training partners and subsequently trained and certified by
the National Trainers Training Academy as Training Methodology 1 Trainer.

TRAINEES QUALIFICATION

1. Must be computer literate

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 All applicants for English Language Course must be computer literate;


 Exemption from Pro-speak assessment: All applicants not intending to work for a Call
Center Industry shall be exempted from taking the Pro-Speak assessment given the
following conditions:
1. When the applicants already have Employment Contract, hence they are ready
for deployment in English – speaking countries; or
2. When the applicants are certified by TESDA in the qualification in which they
shall be deployed and shall be practicing abroad e.g. Caregivers, Butchers,
Welders, etc.
