1.0 GENERAL

1.1 Summary

A. Scope of Specification

This specification prescribes the design application, drawing presentation and fabrication
details of piping supports, instrument connections and miscellaneous piping details.

B. Related Specifications

The following MARAFIQ specifications prescribe items of related Work:

C. Terminology

The following terms are defined as stated, unless otherwise indicated:

1. Shop Fabricated: Fabrication performed at a Supplier shop, normally remote

from the jobsite.

2. Field Fabricated: Fabrication performed at the jobsite, either in a field shop or at

the installation site area.

The publications listed below form part of this specification. Each publication shall be the
latest revision and addendum in effect on the date this specification is issued for construction
unless noted otherwise. Except as modified by the requirements specified herein or the details
of the drawings, Work included in this specification shall conform to the applicable provisions
of these publications.

1.3 Quality Assurance

A. Approved Marafiq design guidelines and methods are used in compliance with project
requirements.

B. Project piping engineers and piping design supervisors monitor, review and control the
design to ensure that applicable codes, practices and specifications are being followed to
meet project quality goals.

C. Quality criteria are constantly reviewed during planning activity.

2.0 PRODUCTS

2.1 Materials

A. Piping materials shall be in accordance with Marafiq Piping Specification MQ-SP-P-5002

unless specific materials are indicated on the standard detail drawing.

B. Welding, weld examination, and weld heat treatment shall be in strict accordance with
Marafiq Welding Specification MQ-SP-P-5029.

C. Carbon steel flats, ASTM-A36, may be substituted for carbon steel plate, ASTM-A36,
without approval. Other substitutions, including thicker wall materials, are not permitted
without written authorization from Marafiq.

D. Galvanized material shall not be used on lines operating above 315 °C (600 °F).

2.2 Fabrication

A. Fabrication shall be in accordance with Marafiq Piping Specifications MQ-SP-P-5003

and MQ-SP-P-5004.

B. Carbon steel components shall be hot dip galvanized in accordance with ASTM-A123,
when furnished separately. Carbon steel components fabricated by a piping shop
fabricator as part of pipe fabrication may be painted in accordance with Marafiq
Mechanical Specification MQ-SP-M-4039 or galvanized.

C. When vendor fabricated, the vendor shall package and tag with respective assembly tag
numbers.

D. Bolts are to be supplied by the field.

E. U-bolts to be furnished as separate items from individual details unless specifically listed
on bill of material. Marafiq will provide separate take-off quantities for U-bolts.

3.0 EXECUTION

3.1 Responsibility

A. Table 1 lists the level of responsibility between Marafiq Engineering, the Field
Constructor, Shop Spool Fabricator and Vendors with regard to each of the piping
standard details.

Notes:

1. The spool fabrication shop shall provide and attach these to pipe on alloy or heat treated piping.
2. The spool fabrication shop shall provide stubs as indicated on the fabrication detail.
3. The spool fabrication shop shall provide and attach brackets as indicated on the fabrication detail.
4. Fabrication for "Field Fabricated" piping will be by field.
5. The spool fabrication shop shall provide and attach these to pipe on heat treated piping.
6. The insulation subcontractor shall be responsible for installing and banding. The field constructor
shall be responsible for lifting of pipe to facilitate installation.
7. Jack screws are located and installed by shop fabricator on shop fabricated piping.
