PARTS OF A PARAGRAPH
What makes a good paragraph?
What comes first? TOPIC SENTENCE
What is it?
Think on the most important part of a paragraph. The first sentence in a paragraph.
What does it do?
It introduces the main idea of the paragraph
How do I write one?
Summarize the main idea of the paragraph

SUPPORTING DETAILS
What are supporting details?
They come after the topic sentence.
They make up the body of a paragraph.
What do they do?
They give details and support the main idea.
How do I write them?
Give supporting facts, details, and examples.

THINK OF A PARAGRAPH AS A CHEESE BURGERS!
CLOSING SENTENCE
What is it?
The last sentence in a paragraph.
What does it do?
It restates the main idea
How do I write one?
Restate the main idea but using different words.
The closing sentence should be very similar to the topic
sentence.
TRANSITION SENTENCE
What is it?
The last sentence of a paragraph (instead of closing sentence)
What does it do?
Close one topic while leading into next.
How do I write one?
Summarize main idea of paragraph and hint at topic for next
one.

HOW LONG IS A PARAGRAPH?  “There are only two types of people in this world;
the hunters and the huntees,” Rainsford says to
