Task A Knowledge Base Question
{*
1. List the continuous improvement systems which have been implemented by ACME?
*}
For ACME continuous improvement means making small continuous changes to a
process instead of big changes at irregular intervals. ACME implemented the tool and
techniques that was used by CI coaches with managers, employees, and operators.
The CI coaches were trained and helped other stakeholders to understand how they
can put forward their ideas for betterment. ACME also laid five-year vision
improvement plan for continuous improvement. ACME also implemented value
stream maps that will help in improvising process flows and work culture.

{*
2. List four other areas of continuous improvement ACME has implemented?
*}
 An environment for learning and self-improvement by training 40 CI Coaches
to facilitate improvement.
 Develop a sense of accountability by helping managers, employees, and
operators to understand how they can improvise their work.
 Change management by setting up a 5-year vision improvement plan that will
help in developing CI culture.
 Knowledge sharing to improvise process workflow with the help of value
stream maps.
 Customer satisfaction by defining KPIs focusing on meeting customer
deadlines.

{*

BSBMGT403 – Implement Continuous Improvement
4. How did ACME enable the continuous improvement implementation to succeed?
ACME laid down five-year vision improvement plan that helped in developing a CI
culture for the business. ACME conducted training and workshops to explain the
stakeholders why change is important to remain in the competitive world and how
the changes can be brought. The maps of processes were developed so that the
process can be improvised along with work culture. Also, new KPIs were defined to
ensure whether or not the customer requirements were met along with deadlines.

{*
5. How did the use of organisational systems and technology enable ACME to monitor and
review progress which assisted in the development of a culture of continuous

{*
6. By improving ACME’s KPI explain how customer satisfaction will also be improved?
*}
It was found that the previous KPIs used to measure how many tons of steel was
rolled. It was not analysing whether the customer's needs were met. Therefore, new
KPIs were introduced which focused on meeting customer deadlines, such as:

 Maintaining zero backlog of customer orders implying that customers always

get their deliveries on time.
 Achieving targets for rolling steel plate in the allotted week.

Because of these factors, the customers were getting quality products on time and this
is what a customer expects. Moreover, ACME monitors and measures its operations
with those of other producers and competitors in the steel industry. Therefore, the
continuous reviewing is the best practice for continuous improvement.

study. Your recommendation also needs to include ACME goals and customer requirements.

The presentation needs to be made to your class as if you were giving a brief report to your
