GRADE 9 TALISAY

L.C. ENG9IIF-20: Use Conditionals in expressing arguments.

I. LEARNING TARGET:
At the end of the discussion, students are expected to:
a. Determine what a Conditional sentence is.
b. Appreciate the importance of using Conditional sentences.
c. Identify and analyze if it is Zero conditionals, first conditionals, Second conditionals
or a third conditionals.

II. LEARNING CONTENT


a) Topic(s): Conditional Sentence
b) Concept(s): Conditional sentences are statements discussing known factors
or hypothetical situations and their consequences. Complete
conditional sentences contain a conditional clause (often
referred to as the if-clause) and the consequence. Consider the
following sentences:

B. Review
Synthesize the lesson last meeting by asking random students about the previous lesson
discussed.
1. Activity
A. Motivation.

 Ask the students to stand up and form a circle.


 The teacher will shout a half conditional sentence and students are the one to
complete the sentence.
 The teacher will give a ball to the students and will play a music.
 While the music is playing the students will pass the ball.
 When the music stop, the passing of the ball will stop.
 The learner that hold the ball will be the one to continue the sentence.

2. Analysis
(Checking and processing of the action)
1) What is your observation based on our activity today?
2) Any idea of what will be our topic for today?
3) Ask the students if they enjoyed the activity.

3. Abstration
1) Reveal subject matter
2) Discussion.
4. Application

Direction: Set students up into small groups with role plays such as tour
companies, or as political parties creating an election manifesto, (have fun having them
choose their names). Give them conditional question such as: students have at least 5
minutes to discuss with their groups, to come up with their best response.

1) What would you do about a traffic congestion if you were the government? (2nd
Condional)
2) What do people do when they go on holiday with your tour company? (Zero
Conditonals)

IV. ASSESSMENT. COMPLETE ME!

 The students will complete the sentence.


 This will help the learners to determine what conditional they will use.

Directions: Complete the sentence below using Conditionals.

1) If you want, 
2) If I am late to school,
3) If I don’t do my homework, 
4) If I hadn’t eaten so much candy, 
5) If I sleep now,
6) If you slept until 3pm,
7) If you did well on the exams,
8) If you had gone to bed earlier,
9) If he had made cupcakes,
10) If you would just stop crying,

V. ASSIGNMENT

Give atleast 5 examples of each Conditionals sentece and write it in your notebook.
