Class: 7th grade
Date: the 20th of March
Time: 50 minutes
Topic: Comparison of adjectives
Type of lesson: Systematization and revision of knowledge

OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON:


- to arouse students’ interest and curiosity;
- to make the difference between the degrees of comparison;
- to produce sentences of their own in which the comparison of adjectives is used

STUDENTS’ PROBLEMS:
I anticipate that the following may cause problems:
- using the grammar rules in spoken language
- making the difference between the degrees of comparison

Stages of the lesson

Activity 1
Aim: -To warm up and break the ice
- To introduce the students to the new lesson

Materials:
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: Teacher asks the students several questions to introduce them to the new lesson:,,Do you think English is more
difficult than French?’’ “Which subject is the most difficult?” ,,Is Cosmin taller than Dani?’’
“Who is the tallest boy in the class?”
Time: 5’

Activity 2
Aim: -To revise the degrees of comparison
Materials: Ball
Interaction: T-Ss
Procedure: Teacher tells the students that they are going to have a revision lesson: Comparison of adjectives.
- Teacher writes the title of the new lesson on the blackboard
Teacher tells the students that they are going to play a funny game. Teacher says an adjective and throws a ball to a
student.The student who catches the ball has to say the comparative and the superlative of the adjective. Each student
catches the ball and says the comparative and the superlative of the adjective. If a student doesn’t know a comparative or a
superlative form he/she throws the ball to another student.
Time: 10’

Activity 3
Aim: To practise the grammar rules.
Materials: Worksheets
Interaction: T-Ss
Procedure: Teacher gives the students worksheets with several exercises and asks the students to solve the exercises.
The students solve the exercises and read them.
Time: 10’

Activity 4
Aim: To practice the grammar rules.
Materials:
Interaction: Gw
Procedure: Teacher organizes the students in three groups and she tells them that they have to find in their group someone
who: Loves the scariest films’, Thinks Maths is the most difficult subject’, ,Is the laziest student, ,Is the biggest winner in
sports’. The students work in groups and one student from each group reads the sentences.

Activity 5
Aim: To ensure the feedback of what the students have learned
Materials: Flipchart
Interaction:T-Ss, Iw
Procedure: Teacher asks the students to find 7 adjectives in a chart and write the comparative and the superlative of each
adjective. The students find the adjectives and write the comparative and the superlative of each adjective.
Time: 10’
