Grant of Provisional Admission


1. Congratulations! I have the pleasure to inform you that in consequence to attaining the above
mentioned merit position in NUST Entrance Test 2020, you have been granted provisional admission in
MATERIALS ENGINEERING Programme at School of Chemical & Materials Engineering (SCME),
Sector H-12, Islamabad The allotment of a seat in the programme is as per the preference of choices
exercised by you in the application form and the attained merit position. It is likely that the programme of
MATERIALS ENGINEERING allotted to you might not be the FIRST preferred choice but the same
undergoes upward revision on availability of seats due to drop-outs and no-responses of provisionally
selected candidates, provided dues have been deposited. It is mandatory to deposit dues in time to
remain in selection process.

2. After depositing dues, if you desire to retain the allocated programme irrespective of the preferences
given in the application, please do inform the University in writing or Email at admissions@nust.edu.pk
latest by due date. So that your upward revision process is blocked in subsequent selections, otherwise
you will remain in selection process.

Instructions to Secure Provisional Admission


3. In order to secure the offered provisional admission, you are requested to take print of the Fee
Invoice and deposit the specified amount in any branch of Habib Bank (Pakistan) Ltd throughout
Pakistan. Also, complete and forward the following documents preferably through courier service OR by
hand to Undergraduate Registration Section, Main Office, National University of Sciences and
Technology (NUST), Sector H-12, Islamabad latest by due date. In case you fail to complete this
requirement by the specified date, your selection will automatically be cancelled and the next
candidate on merit will be offered the seat/admission:-

Note: (In case you do not deposit dues as specified, your name will be deleted and no more
considered in selection process).
a. NUST copy of paid Fee Invoice of Rs. 1,47,700/- on account of the following:-
(1) Admission Processing Fee - Rs. 35,000/-
(Once at the time of admission) (Non-refundable)
(2) Security Deposit - Rs. 10,000/-
(Refundable)
(3) Semester fee - Rs. 100,000/-
Miscellaneous Fee
(4) - Rs. 2,700/-
(ECA, Health Facility & Library)
Note:- Through an amendment in the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 by Finance Act 2013, advance tax
(under section 236-I) shall be collected in Spring Semester@ 5% (from In-active Tax payers only) on the
entire amount of fee, if annual Fee of a student exceeds from Rs. 200,000/- excluding the amount
refundable.

Advance tax paid on Fee is adjustable at the time of filing of Income tax return. NUST will issue
Advance Tax Deduction Certificate in this regard at year-end.

This 5% advance tax is not applicable in case:


i. Parent Guardian is an Active tax payer.
ii. Annual Fee is Rs. 200,000 and below
iii. Parents/guardian (making the payment) are non-resident and stay in Pakistan was less than
183 days in the immediately preceding fiscal year, to be determined on the basis of entry
and exit stamps as per the Passport; and
iv. Fees are remitted directly from abroad to the University bank account [in case of (iii) above]

e. Undertakings on stamp paper as per format attached.

Note for O & A level Candidate Only: Candidates appearing in Oct / Nov 2020 exams have to submit A
level equivalence certificate of relevant group / subjects & in required percentage within one year of
commencement of classes. Those who have their A2 (grade 12 / HSSC) results with predictive grades
are not eligible for this relaxation.

4. Kindly note that this selection status will remain provisional till the selected candidates fully meet the
“eligibility criteria” including aggregate 60% and above marks both in SSC and HSSC level / equivalent
exams. The selection is further subject to production/ validity, correctness and verification of original
testimonials and antecedents to the entire satisfaction of the University. These original documents will be
checked at the time of joining the respective Schools / Colleges. Revealing of any discrepancy at any
stage may lead to cancellation of admission.

5. Date of Commencement of Programme. Classes of all Engineering / Computer Science programmes


have already commenced, submit your dues and join designated NUST School/College immediately
except following:-

a. Classes at MCE (Military College of Engineering), and CE&ME (College of Electrical and
Mechanical Engineering) will commence from 2 November 2020.
b. Classes at MCS (Military College of Signal) will commence from 2 November 2020..
c. Classes at CAE (College of Aeronautical Engineering), will commence from 2 November 2020.
d. Exact time & date for the classes will be intimated to you as per joining instructions of your
designated NUST School/College which will be issued and emailed to you.

6. Whereas the detailed joining instructions will be issued by your concerned School / College, I would,
however, like to share with you some relevant instructions and guidelines to facilitate your admission and
joining process. I would also suggest that you should go through the details of your allotted Programme
given on our website. Queries are welcome and be preferred for clarifications / satisfaction.

7. Arrival. You are required to reach at your concerned School / College as per time & date which will
also be intimated to you by the concerned school / college in their detailed joining instructions well in
advance. In order to facilitate candidates in planning their journey for joining various campuses of NUST, a

Note:- The seats of those candidates who, after submission of admission dues, do not join their
programmes within 15 days of commencement of classes/ session will be declared vacant and
filled up by candidates next on merit.

8. Documents ( At the time of joining Colleges / Schools). Please present the under mentioned
documents, in original, at the reception of concerned School / College without which you may not be
allowed entry into the premises / programme:-

a. Original SSC / Equivalence Certificate and detailed Marks sheet with minimum 60% marks.
b. Original HSSC / Equivalence Certificate and detailed Marks Sheet with minimum 60% marks.
c. Attested photocopy of CNIC or Form B and attested photocopy of CNIC of father / guardian.

d. Passport-size colour photographs, duly attested, as per requirement given in the joining
instructions issued by the respective School / College.
e. Medical Fitness Certificate duly issued by any Government hospital OR a Registered Medical
Practitioner. The certificate can be downloaded from our website alongwith the provisional
selection letter and submitted to the School / College at the time of joining.

Note:Student name will be registered as per given in Matric / O level / SSC Equivalence certificate.

9. Tuition Fee. Tuition fee will be charged on semester basis in advance. Candidates are required to
deposit first semester fee with the admission processing fee and security deposit as per Fee Invoice
available with provisional Selection letter on NUST website. Fee Invoice is payable at any branch of Habib
Bank Ltd throughout Pakistan.

10. Refund Policy for new students of Session 2020. Refund policy on deposited amount is as under:-

a. Admission processing fee is not refundable in any case


b. Security deposit is refundable as already mentioned subject to production of clearance
certificate from the concerned NUST School/College.
c. Tuition fee deposited with the admission dues will be refunded in full, if application for refund is
received up to 7th day of convene of classes. (including weekdays and weekends)
d. Half (50%) tuition fee deposited with the admission dues will be refunded, if application for
refund is received from 8th to 15th day of convene of classes. (including weekdays and
weekends)
e. No tuition fee will be refunded if application for refund is received on or after 16th day of
convene of classes. (including weekdays and weekends)

11. Hostel Accommodation.Hostel accommodation is available for outstation students and is allotted as
per Hostels Allotment Criteria as per the given guideline:-

a. Students registered for statutory courses in the University (Islamabad Campus only) stand
eligible to apply for Hostel Accommodation following the procedure available on NUST
webpage http://www.nust.edu.pk/Campus-Life/Pages/Amenities-Facilities.aspx. For queries

b. Students joining other NUST constituent institutions (other than those located at the Main
Campus, Sector H-12, Islamabad) will apply directly to respective Commandants/Principals for
the purpose.
c. Students whose programs are changed and upgraded, involving shifting of campus, will apply
afresh for hostel accommodation (as the case may be). Such candidates will also apply to the
concerned authority for release of hostel security (if already paid) so as to settle his/her
account accordingly.

12. Financial Assistance (For UG Only):

NUST offers merit based financial assistance up to Rs. 18,000/ semester to few of the students
securing top positions in each semester.
Financially challenged students may apply for interest free loans (deferment of tuition fee, Qarz-e-
Hasana etc), after commencement of classes. Information regarding how to apply is available on

subsistence-allowance/
In addition to above, students facing financial problems due to sudden changes in financial profile,
after admission in NUST, may apply for NUST Need based Scholarship. To apply students are
required to submit Scholarship Application form available at URL:
www.nust,.edu.pk/pages/downloads.aspx in their respective institutions (w.e.f 2nd Semester
onwards).

13. Student Support Services.. In addition to a host of facilities created & maintained by the University
for supplementing and facilitating academic pursuits of students, it has an array of co-curricular and sports
activities to nurture both intellectual & physical talents of the students. Details of Clubs & Societies, Sports
& Recreation are given on NUST website.

14. Adherence to University Norms, Rules & Regulations. In order to maintain a conducive and enabling
environment to support academic endeavours of the students, the University has laid down a Code of
Conduct to be followed and complied with by the students during their stay in the University. It will be
issued to each student in the form of a booklet once he / she joins the campus. I would suggest you to
read the booklet and other booklets containing rules and regulations governing academic activities and
examinations so as to optimally utilize the academic facilities of the University and excel in your pursuits.
