To illustrate multiplication as equal jumps in a


number line, determine the number of equal jumps
and the number of spaces per jump.

For example: 5 x 2 = 10
number of jumps x number of space per jump

Illustration as equal jumps on the number line:

How many spaces are there per jump? 2
How many spaces are there in all? 10

Another example: 9 x 2 = 18
