Setup Guide for Oracle 11g Installation

Installing Oracle 11g


Step 1: Sign Up with Oracle

You need an account on Oracle to download software’s. (If you are already
registered or signed up with oracle then ignore this step and proceed to Step 2
below)

Go to the following link to sign up with Oracle:

Step 2: Download Oracle 11g Standard Edition for Windows

a) Go to Oracle 11g download page

https://www.oracle.com/in/database/technologies/112010-win64soft.html

Download the zip files

b) For this installation, you need either the DVDs or a downloaded version of the DVDs. In this
demo, you install from the downloaded version. From the directory where the DVD files were
unzipped, open Windows Explorer and double-click on setup.exe from the \db\Disk1 directory.
c) In Step 1 of 9 provide your email address to be informed of Security Issues. (Optional)

d) In Installation Option => Select “Create and Configure a database”

e) In system Class => Select “Desktop Class”

f) Under Typical Install Configuration =>


I. You can specify custom directories for Oracle Base, Software location and Database
File Location respectively.
II. Under Database Edition => select “Standard Edition”.
III. Global Database Name : It is up to you. Here It is given as OSE (Oracle Standard
Edition)
IV. Administrative password : As Per Oracle Standards

g) Verify the Summary and Click Finish to proceed

i) In Database Configuration Assistant click OK

j) Installation is successful

Testing Your Installation

To test your installation is done successfully, perform following steps:

a. Open a browser and enter the following URL:

https://<hostname>:1158/em

where <hostname> should be changed to your machine name, IP address, or localhost.

b. Enter the username as “system” and the password issued by you during the installation
process

After successful login the following screen should appear

c. In order to run the queries:


i. Start windows cmd prompt
ii. Type “sqlplus”
iii. Enter username as: system
iv. Enter password: <<type the password set during the installation process>>
