Good Morning Class! Good Morning Sir!

(Prayer)

names of the absentees today? Yes Sir.

Thank you Miss secretary.

Before we start our lesson, let’s sing a song.

Our song for today is entitled “With Christ in
my Vessel”.
Let us study our song first then let’s follow
the omitted words; one by one.
Ready?
Sing!
(Singing Activity) (Singing Activity)
WITH CHRIST IN MY VESSEL
With Christ in my vessel I can
Smile at the Storm (2x)
With Christ in my vessel I can smile at the
storm,
Until it takes me Home,

Sailing, I’m Sailing Home (2x)

With Christ in my vessel I can smile at the
storm,
Until it takes me Home

Well that was fun.

Let’s do the Mabuhay Clap!
(Mabuhay clap) (Students will do the Mabuhay Clap)
B. Motivation
So now, I have here different kinds of songs,
and I want you to listen to them very closely.
(listening activity)
-Gregorian chant
-Itsy Bitsy Spider
-A Choral Piece (Paru-parong Bukid)

So what have you noticed from the songs

you’ve just heard? The first one was plain and very
mysterious; it is also in different language.
Very Good. That is a Gregorian Chant sang by
priest in the past, known as monks. It is sung
during masses in the Catholic Church.
What else? The second one is a nursery rhyme.

Excellent!
Anything else? The third one is a popular folksong sang by
a choir.
Very Good. The title of that song is “Paru-
parong Bukid” a Tagalog folk song.
Let’s give ourselves a good job clap! (Students will do the good job clap)

You are all correct!

They were music with different kinds of
texture.
Like objects, music has texture too. Music can
be thick or thin depending on the composer
of the music.
Now can you please describe me again what
texture in music is? Texture is the thickness and thinness of
music.
Very well said students.
The texture in music can be voice or sound;
instrumental or vocal in form.
Let’s do the Ready Clap! (Students will do the ready clap)
C. Developmental Activities
Now, I want you to form 3 groups.

On the board are the three types of texture in

music.
Let’s read. Monophonic, Homophonic, Polyphonic

I have here 3 folders and inside each are

descriptions of the three types of texture.
I want you to read each of them carefully and
let us describe the three types of texture one
by one.

First,
I want you to listen very carefully to this
music again.
(teacher will play the Gregorian chant again)

What have you noticed about the melody of

the music? The melody is only one.
Very Good.

Based from its compound words, “Mono”

means “one” and “phonic” means “sound”,
we can form? MONOPHONIC.

Now, may I call the group with the right

description of monophonic? Yes Sir!

Is it correct? Yes, because our description says “it

consists of a single melody”.
Very good group one!
Now can you post it on the board? Yes sir!
A chant is a good example of monophonic
texture of music.

Let’s give group one a Good Job Clap! (students will do the good job clap)

Next, I want you to listen again to this music.

(teacher will play the itsy bitsy spider)

What can you say to the melody of the music? The music is a nursery rhyme and with two
melodies, the accompaniment and the
singers.
Very well said.

Based from compound words “homo”

meaning “two of the same” and “phonic”
“sound”, we form the word? HOMOPHONIC

Now, may I call the group with the right

description of homophonic? Yes Sir!

Is it correct? Yes, because our description says, “it

consists of one melody with
accompaniment or second voice.”
Very good group two!

Now can you post it on the board? Yes sir!

Can you give an example of a homophonic
texture of music? The RnB songs, songs that are accompanied
by bands, and songs that are sung by two
parts.
Very Good Group 2.
Now let’s give them a Mabuhay clap! (students will do the mabuhay clap)

For the last one, I want you to listen again to

this music.
(teacher will play Paru-parong bukid)

What can you say about the melody of the

music? The melody is sung by many voices.

Correct!
This is a choir piece sang by a group.
They sing in different melodies.
Based from the compound words, “Poly’
meaning “two or more” and “phonic”
meaning “sound”; we can form the word? POLYPHONIC.

Now, may I call the last group with the right

description of polyphonic? Yes Sir.

Is it correct? Yes sir, because our description says, “it

consists of two or more independent
melodies sounded simultaneously.”

Very Good!
Let’s give group three a Yahoo Clap! (students will do the yahoo clap)

Will you post it on the board? Yes sir.

Can you give examples of songs that have
polyphonic texture? The choirs, the orchestra, and instrumental
bands that have different melodies.
Excellent! Let’s give group 3 an excelliente
clap! (Students will do the excelliente clap)

D. Generalization
