Safety Precautions
1. GRAPHICAL MARKINGS
Various graphical markings are used in this instruction manual for safety use of this equipment.
The following describes what will happen if you ignore the instructions given with graphical
markings or handles the equipment in a wrong way.
Before reading the instruction manual, understand completely the instructions given with graphical
markings, so that you can utilize the equipment safely and correctly.

Safety Precautions
CAUTION
・ When the power is turned on, or if a measurement item is changed in the midway, be sure to
read a magnetic card attached to the sample inspection plate exclusive for the i-Reader
(hereinafter referred to as “exclusive plate”). Immediately after the card is read, the measure-
ment item and lot No. are shown on the display of the i-Reader main unit and the screen of the
exclusive software.. Confirm that the printed data matches the measure-
ment item and lot No. on the exclusive plate to be measured. If unmatched, correct results
will not be obtained. Accordingly, check again the measurement item and lot No. and then
read a magnetic card attached to the exclusive plate. If unmatched at the worst, please contact
our sales department or service department.
・ For handling the exclusive plate, refer to the medical instrument document for the exclusive
plate as well as the instruction manual.
WARNING
・ Do not touch directly the sample that could be infected. If you happened to touch it, take
measures following the customer’s job standard. Also, if the sample stuck to the equipment,
wipe if off.
・ Please contact our service personnel if the fuse is replaced. The cause of a trouble may be
other than the fuse. Also, when you replace the fuse as specified in the instruction manual,
be sure to use the same type of fuse by confirming the rated voltage and current of the fuse
used. Using larger fuse than the rating causes the safety circuit not to work in case of an
abnormality in the equipment, resulting in a burn or fire.
・ Interaction
Do not connect other units to this equipment, which could damage the equipment.
If repairs for the equipment have become necessary, affix a stop use label, sterilize it with
alcohol, and seal it in a plastic bag before sending it to our plant.

Ⅰ Product Overview, Components and Accessories
1. PURPOSE
This equipment reads and quantifies the color optical concentration on the sample inspection plate
(hence referred to as the “exclusive plate”) exclusively for the i-Reader.
2. OPERATIONAL PRICIPLE
This equipment irradiates beam of the LED light source onto a coloring portion of the exclusive
plate and reads the reflection ratio using the CCD camera in a reflection type optical system, and
makes the concentration conversion for quantification.
The information on the measurement items is loaded from the magnetic card reader in advance.

Ⅳ General Operating Method and Precautions
CAUTION
1) Be sure to read a magnetic card attached to the exclusive plate of i-Reader when you start
measuring the first measurement item. The magnetic card of plural exclusive plates used can
be read, but only the information of one magnetic card for each measurement item can be
stored.
2) The information of the read magnetic card is stored even after the power is turned off, and
thus the magnetic card need not be read in the second and subsequent operations (data are
overwritten, if read). However, if the lot number in the same measurement item is different,
the magnetic card of the exclusive plate used must be read.
3) ② Immediately after the magnetic card was read, confirm that measurement items and the
lot No. match. If unmatched, correct results will not be obtained. Accordingly, check the
measurement item and lot No. again and then read a magnetic card attached to the exclusive
plate to be measured. In the event that they are still unmatched, please contact our sales
department or service department.

Ⅳ General Operating Method and Precautions
2. OPERATION PANEL
The operation panel consists of a liquid crystal display (2 rows 24 characters with backlight),
three keys of F1, F2, F3, and three pieces of LED.
Fundamentally, the operation is performed by selecting either of three keys.
The function of each key varies depending on the selected screen, and the function assigned to each
key is displayed above the key.
For example, the case shown in Figure 4 indicates that current screen is Main1 Menu and the F1
key is used to change over the F2 and F3 key functions. Also, the F2 works as PAPER FEED key,
and the F3 key works as magnetic card reading key.
Ⅳ- 2
Ⅳ General Operating Method and Precautions
The i-Reader Hemo is configured with the menu screens as listed in Table 1. (2 screens of Main1 to
Main2)
(1) If F1 key is pressed on the Main screen, the screen is changed over in order shown below:

Screen 3
Ⅳ- 3
Ⅳ General Operating Method and Precautions
When the above screen appears, make a magnetic card attached to the exclusive plate to be
measured read.
1) The magnetic card must be oriented so that the face side comes to your side and a black band on
the face side comes to the bottom.
2) Run the magnetic card from the rear side to the front side as shown in Figure 5.
CAUTION
The contents of magnetic card vary every measurement item and lot of the exclusive plate.
Be sure to use the card attached to the exclusive plate to be measured.

Ⅳ General Operating Method and Precautions
CAUTION
The measurement is not taken place if no exclusive plate is set though the remaining time
becomes 0:00, or if the exclusive plate is not exchanged in continuous measurement. In such a
case, the alarm buzzer sounds and the measurement is suspended until the exclusive plate is set.
Also, the measurement restarts if the exclusive plate is set, but correct result may not be
obtained for the set exclusive plate and subsequent exclusive plates registered for continuous
measurement. (‘over time’ will be printed on the recording paper.)
Be careful for negligence of setting or exchange of exclusive plate.
