The following describes what will happen if you ignore the instructions given with graphical
markings or handles the equipment in a wrong way.
Before reading the instruction manual, understand completely the instructions given with graphical
markings, so that you can utilize the equipment safely and correctly.

WARNING
Negligence of this instruction or wrong handling can result in operator’s serious injury or
critical equipment damage, or large influence on the analysis results.

2. EQUIPMENT HANDLING PRECAUTIONS

CAUTION

・ When the power is turned on, or if a measurement item is changed in the midway, be sure to
read a magnetic card attached to the sample inspection plate exclusive for the i-Reader
(hereinafter referred to as “exclusive plate”). Immediately after the card is read, the measure-
ment item and lot No. are shown on the display of the i-Reader main unit and the screen of the
exclusive software.. Confirm that the printed data matches the measure-
ment item and lot No. on the exclusive plate to be measured. If unmatched, correct results
will not be obtained. Accordingly, check again the measurement item and lot No. and then
read a magnetic card attached to the exclusive plate. If unmatched at the worst, please contact
our sales department or service department.
・ For handling the exclusive plate, refer to the medical instrument document for the exclusive
plate as well as the instruction manual.

WARNING

・ Do not touch directly the sample that could be infected. If you happened to touch it, take
measures following the customer’s job standard. Also, if the sample stuck to the equipment,
wipe if off.
・ Please contact our service personnel if the fuse is replaced. The cause of a trouble may be
other than the fuse. Also, when you replace the fuse as specified in the instruction manual,
be sure to use the same type of fuse by confirming the rated voltage and current of the fuse
used. Using larger fuse than the rating causes the safety circuit not to work in case of an
abnormality in the equipment, resulting in a burn or fire.
・ Interaction
Do not connect other units to this equipment, which could damage the equipment.
If repairs for the equipment have become necessary, affix a stop use label, sterilize it with
alcohol, and seal it in a plastic bag before sending it to our plant.

AND PRECAUTIONS
Ⅳ General Operating Method and Precautions

1. PRECAUTIONS FOR OPERATION

(1) General precautions

When installing the equipment, take care of the following items:
1) To maintain the performance safely and normally, do not install the equipment at an
unspecified place.
2) To maintain stable performance at all times, do not measure anything other than human
samples.

(2) Fundamental precautions specific to this equipment

Before using the equipment, take care of the following items:
1) Make sure that it is connected to the PC to which the measuring software has been installed..
2) For handling the exclusive plate, see the medial instrument document attached and the
instruction manual for the exclusive plate used.

When using the equipment, take care of the following items:

CAUTION

1) Be sure to read a magnetic card attached to the exclusive plate of i-Reader when you start
measuring the first measurement item. The magnetic card of plural exclusive plates used can
be read, but only the information of one magnetic card for each measurement item can be
stored.
2) The information of the read magnetic card is stored even after the power is turned off, and
thus the magnetic card need not be read in the second and subsequent operations (data are
overwritten, if read). However, if the lot number in the same measurement item is different,
the magnetic card of the exclusive plate used must be read.
3) ② Immediately after the magnetic card was read, confirm that measurement items and the
lot No. match. If unmatched, correct results will not be obtained. Accordingly, check the
measurement item and lot No. again and then read a magnetic card attached to the exclusive
plate to be measured. In the event that they are still unmatched, please contact our sales
department or service department.

(3) General precautions for other operations

1) If the analysis number is posted, check the ID number and post each analyzed data correctly.
2) To prevent deterioration of the LCD and touch keys, do not operate the touch keys with your
hand wetted with water or chemicals.
3) To prevent damage of the LCD and touch keys, do not operate the touch keys with a pointed
tool.
