    Points to Remember in Wearing the Nurse’s Uniform 1. Acceptance – acceptance of others is indicative
    of self-maturity
    • Every item comprising the uniform must be
    spotlessly clean, well-fitted & in good repair 2. Helpfulness – strong feeling towards helping
    others;
    • The shoes & hosiery worn with uniform should
    provide for maximum comfort 3. Friendliness – may be active or passive; warmth
    manner;
    • Uniform designated for use in a given hospital
    area is worn only in the line of duty & not to be 4. Firmness – being alert to the actions of others
    worn outside the specified department in a positive, confident way;
    5. Permissiveness – understanding of motives &
    the feelings expressed in behavior whether they
    are or not applicable;

    6. Limit Setting – knowing the value of her


    influence;

    7. Sincerity – acting naturally, recognizing one’s


    anger, fears & other feeling

    8. Competence – approaching problems


    intellectually rather than emotionally;

    4. CHARM

    To acquire charm, one needs to cultivate the following:

    • Voice

    • Manner

    • Heart

    • Intelligence Poise

    Requirements for Development of Poise:

    A. Calmness & composure

    – Face reality

    – Avoid emotional flare-ups

    B. Control of Temper

    – Think before acting

    – Avoid verbal & physical aggressiveness
