TOPIC : SOCIOCULTURE CENTER

LOCATION:SECTOR-11 DWARKA, New Delhi, India.

INTRODUCTION:
Social and Cultural Center is designed to form and satisfy information, educational,
cultural needs of the Library’s users and workers.

To achieve this goals it is necessary to solve the following objectives: to promote art
and book heritage; to carry out educational programs; to popularize books and the
history of the National ; to organize PR-campaigns; to conduct cultural and corporate
events; to organize excursions; to develop and implement projects intended for
international development; to participate in international projects; to organize sports and
recreation activities and to promote healthy lifestyles.

DETAIL OF TOPIC:
The work of Social and Cultural Center is focused on the conducting of events of socio
cultural significance; the work of galleries, exhibitions, the museum; international
activities; conducting of excursions; advertising; sports and recreation activities. All
branches of Social and Cultural Center closely cooperate, complement each other and
provide a single result.

Social and Cultural Center holds annual events: campaigns of socio-cultural and socio-
political nature, meetings with scientific and creative intelligentsia, scientific and
educational events (conferences, forums, seminars, etc.), concerts, art and book
exhibitions, musical and literary meetings, ceremonies on donations of book and book
presentations, entertainment and educational events, recreative sports.

For residents and guests of the country the social and culture center provide hospitality
space

The socio cultural center hosts international meetings at the highest state level,
including events.

In the art galleries, the Social and Cultural Center carries out national and international
art exhibitions, festivals and vernissages, As part of this branch, the Social and Cultural
Center also organizes literary events with authors who are participants of art projects.

The activities of the Library’s Social and Cultural Center is related to the organization
and conduct of a number of thematic book exhibitions, actions, ceremonies and
presentations of book collections which are devoted to the main national and
international events and holidays, important dates and anniversaries.

In connection with international cooperation, the Library annually holds Days of Culture
of the Peoples during which book, art and photo exhibitions are carried out.

OJECTIVE OF PROJECT:
•To design the center with all its services, formal and informal spaces related to
eachother, which should encourage the users to use the services for a longer duration.

•The objective is to bring all cultural activities in the capital to a single venue and
expandit into one big unit for the development of community in order to find valuable
andpractical ways to cater the needs of the public.

•To design a built form in context to the psychological and cultural diversity of
thecommunity.

NEED OF SOCIOCULTURAL CENTRE:
There has been complete cultural and social negligence in india is past few
decades,with the growth of modern technology.With the influx of new modern
equipments and the craze with the Western culture is considered prestigious and trendy
among this generation as in advertised and promoted by global icons.The lack in
promoting and encouraging may not only lead to cultural extinction but also affect
cultural tourism to greater extent.

A vibrant community recreation center can have a stabilizing effect on the lives of young
people. By providing safe and adequately equipped spaces for physical activities like
dance, martial arts, yoga, basketball, and other sports, community centers instill
discipline, healthy exercise habits, and teamwork. Community centers create the perfect
setting for local mentorship programs, providing guidance and leadership development
for the youth of the community.

• To create a space which can form the node for holding and experiencing commercial,
cultural and social activities.

• It is in a way a hybrid between a Convention centre or a Cultural hub and a


Commercial centres at a much reduced scale.

• As a Cultural Centre requires to incorporate the demands the present demography.

SCOPE OF WORK:
• To explore the symbiotic character of COMMERCE and CULTURE.

• Explore the inter-relationships of the spaces and the challenges of disparities cause by
design which restrict spaces to particular segment of public .

• The project would try to explore the possible integration of the functions which usually
exist at larger distances.

“Built masses sustain different activities and activities make those built masses to
evolve and come out to be a master piece for humans .”

LIMITATIONS:
•Their will be limited research and study on feasibity of project and detailed site
suitability will not be analysed.

•The project will not cover detail related to landscape design though research will done
according to architectural requirement.

•The project will not focus constructural analysis of built structure of resorts,although
structural consultation will be made and it will not be sufficient.

•Detailed environment assessment will not be done due to limitation of knowledge in this
field and it is not our primary focus.
