In this experiment, the objective is to study a forward biased diode with p-n junction. The
another objective of this experiment is to measure the I-V characteristics of forward conduction of a p-n
junction diode. This objective is significant because after conducting this lab we can learn how a p-n
junction model works in a forward biased diode. This will be helpful for learning I-V characteristics of a
p-n junction diode practically. To conduct this lab, we used PSpice simulation.
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this lab is to measure the I-V characteristics of forward conduction of a p-n
junction diode. The another objective of this experiment is to determine the models of forward
conduction of a p-n junction diode.

We know,
Id = Is exp[Vd/nVt]
→ Is = Id/exp[Vd/nVt]
When Id = 2mA,
Is = 2mA/exp[5V/2×0.0259V]
= 2.403×10^-45A
When Id = 2.5mA,
Is = 2.5mA/exp[5V/2×0.0259V]
= 3.003×10^-45A

CONCLUSIONS:
As we used PSpice Simulation for getting the values so there is no error and we get
proper values. After conducting this lab, some theoretical and experimental values are different because
of manual calculation error. After conducting this lab we learnt the I-V characteristics of a p-n junction
and also learn how a p-n junction works in a forward diode. This will help us to build any circuit with
diode.
