7. ABSTRACT
7.1 Summary
This descriptive study gathered data using researcher made
questionnaire. The respondents were 30 dog owners of Barangay Magang Daet,
Camarines Norte. The study Focuses on the “Level of Compliance of dog owners
on the National Rabies Prevention and Control Program” which is intended to
evaluate the awareness of the people about rabies prevention and if they comply
with the standard that is mandated by the government.

7.2 Findings
1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age,
gender, civil status, and educational attainment.
The youngest among the respondents is 20 years old and the eldest is 51
years old Out of 30 respondents, 20 are female and 10 are male. Most of the
respondents are single. Nearly some of the respondents are college graduate.
2. What is the status of the owners on the national rabies prevention and
control program in terms of: registration, vaccination/immunization, dog care, dog
bitting incidence, and other activities.
In terms of registration the respondents partially complied in the national
rabies prevention and control program with the Overall mean of 1.69 this
includes submission of their dogs to mandatory registration and renewal of
registration card annually. With regards to sending their dog to yearly vaccination
and recording of the dogs vaccination status the respondents Fully Complied
through this with the overall mean of 2.34. How the respondents take care of
their dog including providing the dog with proper grooming , adequate food and
clean shelter and maintained control over the dog and not allow it to roam the
streests or any public places without a leash resulted to the respondents Fully
Complying to the program with the grand mean of 2.68. Complying if the dog

accidentally bites a person comprising of reporting a dog biting incidence and
assisting the victim and shouldering the expenses result with the grand mean of
2.44 inferred as Fully Complied. The respondents also Partially Comply with the
other activities such as participating in rabies prevention and campaign in the
community and reporting of rabies cases in animals and humans to authority with
the overall mean of 2.08.
3. What measures can be recommended to enhance the compliance of
dog owners on the national rabies prevention and control of rabies cases?
The following are the measures maybe recommended to raise the level of
awareness on the compliance of dog owners on the national rabies and
prevention control program through a collaborative effort with the Department of
Health.
I. The following programs are recommended to create knowledge to adopt
ordinance designed to protect the health safety and welfare of the Public Health
are suggested:
1. Libreng Bakuna para sa Tao at Aso, this program aimed to increase
the resources available for assistance in giving rabies vaccine for FREE. Dog
Owners who fail to immunized against rabies shall be punished by a fine of two
thousand pesos (2000).

2. “Mass Dog Vaccination Campaign” this program aimed to enforce
health protection, safety and welfare of the public making sure that their pets are
up to date on their rabies inoculations. As well as educating the public that rabies
can be prevented in humans and can be eliminated in dogs if they adhere.
3. Impounding, field control and disposition of unregistered, Stray and
unvaccinated Dogs.
4. Door to door vaccination. This program aimed to reach all pet owners
on compulsory vaccination to ensure na lahat ay mabibigyan ng bakuna at
walang makakaligtaan.
II. Programs that will increase the awareness about the Rep. Act no. 9482
an act providing for the control and elimination of human and animal rabies.
1. Community Rabies Day. The rabies awareness and advocacy
campaign is an activity highlighted in the reduction of stray dogs and encourages
responsible dog ownership especially in rural areas.
2. School based program campaign. Public awareness will be
strengthened through the information, Education, and Communication (IEC)
campaign. The rabies program shall be integrated into the elementary curriculum
and the Responsible Pet Ownership (RPO) shall be promoted.

1. The Majority of the respondents are in the young adult stage of
development, Majority of them are females, with civil status of single , most of
them are college graduate, and most of them owns an Aspin “Askal”.
2. Pet owners are not aware about their responsibilities to their pets
causing them to get infectious disease like rabies that can harm many people. As
a Pet Owners we are obliged to know our responsibility to our pets. We should
provide them the care and needs that they need, and we should abide the law
covering the prevention of rabies. .
7.4 Recommendation
Awareness and Cooperation is the key to make people responsive to
every program that the government will implement. Pet Owners shold be
Equipped with proper knowledge about their pet’s health. The government should
further intensify their efforts in their information dissemination to the public
regarding their program so that the public will be able to cooperate and
participate.
