LANDSLIDE IN LEYTE
February 17,2006
● A massive rock slide-debris avalanche occured in the
Province of Southern Leyte
● This was followed by 10 day periodof heavy rain and
minor earthquake
● This cause a lot of damage and killed 1126 people
● The Government of the Philippines has announce
that it welcomes international assistance, although
it has not issued a formal request for aid, in
response to a landslide that hit the village of
Guinsaugon in Southern Leyte province on 17th of
February

BOHOL EARTHQUAKE
October 15,2013
● The island province of bohol, located in
centralvisayas in the philippines was disrupted
by the deadliestearthquake in the Philippines
in 23 years.

● The earthquake lasted 34 seconds and had a


magnitude size of 7.2. The bohol earthquake
had an impact on the entire central visayas
region
● 222 people died, 976 were injured and more
than73,000 houses were damaged
● Government identified emergency shelter,
early recovery, water, sanitation and hygiene,
food, logistic and coordination as top priority
areas for support.
● This action plan seeks US$46.8 million to
reach 344,300 people over a six month period
until april 2014

TROPICAL STORM
SENDONG (WASHI)
December 11, 2011-
December 19,2011
● Tropical storm sendong triggered flash
flooding thatsurged down mountain sides ,
uprooting trees and swellingrivers.
The storm left 1,080 people dead and

destroyed the coastalcities of cagayan de oro
and nearby iligan, turning them in
rubbishdumps filled with over turned cars,
debris and animal carcasses.

● House with families sleeping inside were


swept into the seain an area of the philippines
ill-equiped to cope with storms. It tookmonths
for power and clean water to be restored again
to the region.
● The government of the philippines is leading
major emergency,evacuation and response in
southern philippines following thedevastation
caused by tropical storm sendong (washi)

Cyclone durian
November 25, 2006
● an intense tropical cyclone hit the philippines
that made heavy rainfall, Legazpi City had to
fight widespread flooding while mudslides
from the mayon volcano buried villages.
● This killed at least 720 people and damage lots
of areasin a total of $130 million
● President Arroyo declared state of national
calamity on December 3 2006 and authorized
P1million.

TAAL VOLCANO
ERUPTION
JANUARY 12, 2020
● The eruption of Taal in Batangas was a
phreatomagmatic eruptionfrom its main crater
that spewed ashes across calabarzon, metro
manilaand some parts of central luzon and
ilocos region
● Because of this, they need to suspend all the
school classes,work schedules, and flights in
the area. Citizens need to evacuate because of
its dangerous ashes, there are 39 people died.
● President Duterte was in Davao City during
the eruption, he visited evacuees in Batangas
city on January 14 and pledge to province
financial assistance worth P130million to the
affected residents
