EXPERIMENT: 5.

1
EXAMINATION OF DIODES

EXPERIMENT:
Put Y-0016/005 module in place. Connect the circuit as shown in the first part
of the following figure.

Apply the power to the circuit.

1- Is the lamp on? Why?

2- Close the circuit power. Connect the circuit as shown in the second
part of the figure.

Apply the power to the circuit. What is the result? Explain.

3- Based on Question1 and Question2, what should be Anode-Cathode

voltages for diode being a conductor?

EXPERIMENT: 5.2
DERIVING DIODE CHARACTERISTICS

EXPERIMENT:
Put Y-0016/005 module in place. Connect the circuit as shown in the
following figure.

Adjust the power supply voltage potentiometer to minimum (left), current

potentiometer to maximum (right). Apply power to the circuit. In this
arrangement, diode is in forward bias region.

1- By using the multi-meter, obtain the values shown in the table step by
step. Record the voltmeter voltage values for each of the current value to
the table.

2- Draw a graph which is a relation between I (Diode ) and V(Diode).
3- Cut the power to the circuit. Connect the circuit as shown in the
following figure. In this arrangement, the diode is reversely biased.

4- This time, by using the voltmeter, obtain the values of ED step by step

by adjusting the power supply. Record the amper-meter current value for

each of the voltage value to the table.

5- Mark the values of I(Diode) ve V(Diode) in the table onto a graph

shown and obtain the reverse bias curve.
