SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT IN PRACTICAL RESEARCH 1
QUARTER 2 WEEKS 1-2
General Instruction:
This test has two parts: Written Works Test (Part I) and Performance Task (Part
II). Part I is a free-response test while Part II involves the creation of a certain product.
Try your best to accomplish all the tasks.

Week 1

I. WRITTEN WORK: CLAIM-EVIDENCE-REASONING-STRUCTURED-

CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE TEST
Learning Competency: Chooses appropriate qualitative research design

Direction: Study the article below to answer the Claim-Reasoning Structured

Constructed Response Test

Research methodology is the path through which researchers need to conduct

their research. It shows the path through which these researchers formulate their problem
and objective and present their result from the data obtained during the study period. This
research design and methodology chapter also shows how the research outcome at the
end will be obtained in line with meeting the objective of the study.
Research design is the framework of research methods and techniques chosen by
a researcher. The design allows researchers to home in on research methods that are
suitable for the subject matter and set up their studies up for success.

The design of a research topic explains the type of research
(experimental, survey, correlational, semi-experimental, review) and its sub-type
(experimental design, research problem, descriptive case-study).

There are three main types of research design: Data collection, measurement, and
analysis. The type of research problem an organization is facing will determine the
research design and not vice-versa. The design phase of a study determines which tools
to use and how they are used.

An impactful research design usually creates a minimum bias in data and

increases trust in the accuracy of collected data. A design that produces the least margin
of error in experimental research is generally considered the desired outcome.

The essential elements of the research design are:

1. Accurate purpose statement
2. Techniques to be implemented for collecting and analyzing research
3. The method applied for analyzing collected details
4. Type of research methodology
5. Probable objectives for research
6. Settings for the research study
7. Timeline
8. Measurement of analysis

Proper research design sets your study up for success. Successful research studies
provide insights that are accurate and unbiased. You will need to create a survey that
meets all of the main characteristics of a design

ANSWER SHEET

Students are expected to explain the meaning of a research design.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Read the given article. Then answer the following:
QUESTION:
Why is research design considered as the skeletal framework of the research?
YOUR CLAIM: My answer to the question is…

Cite from the article two evidence that support your claim:

EVIDENCE 1:
The statement in the article that supports my answer is ...

EVIDENCE 2: The statement in the article that supports my answer is...

Explain how your evidence supports your claim.

REASONING: The evidence I chose supports my answer because...

WEEK 2

II. PERFORMANCE TASK (1 PRODUCT):

Directions: Study the given situation and do the task required. Be guided by the
Performance Task Rubric provided for your reference.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
Create a brochure that describes sampling procedure and sample

SITUATION:
You are a data analyst and you were invited in a School Research Colloquium
to present the sampling method of your chosen research study in the form of a
brochure. To concretize and made clearer for the participants- teachers and students
be sure to make a verbal descriptions and factual evidence of the selection process.
Discuss your chosen sampling method. Indicate the type of sampling to be performed,
how it will be executed, what are the criteria and what will result from this procedure.
Present your data and paragraph through a brochure.

GOAL:
Your task is to create a brochure that describes the sampling procedure of a chosen
research topic.

ROLE:
You are a data analyst who is requested to create a brochure that describes the
sampling procedure of a chosen research topic.

PRODUCT:
Brochure that describes the sampling procedure of a chosen research topic.
AUDIENCE:
Your target audience are students and teachers.
STANDARDS:
Your output will be evaluated in terms of content, written presentation, research
quality and visual appeal.
