The plumbing system is made up of all the pipe fittings and equipment that are utilized to
provide and dispose water. Diverse pipes are utilized for different reasons in this distribution and
proper drainage system. Plumbing is the devices used for the distribution and use of portable
water and the removal of aquatic water waste places in a structure. The plumbing in building
construction is very important because the design of a structure is incomplete without plumbing
system.
2. What date was plumbing recognized here in the Philippines? and how was it implemented here
in the Philippines as a practice in different industries?
The plumbing profession in the Philippines developed in 17th century. The plumbing
trade was officially recognized by the government in Manila in 1902. Master plumber John F.
Hass was named the first Chief of the Division of Plumbing Construction and Inspection.
Through the initiative of the Filipino Master Plumbers, a plumbing code based on the United
States Plumbing Code was introduced into the Manila City Building Code. The City of Manila's
plumbing code is known as City Ordinance 2411. The City of Manila's Plumbing Code was
adopted and put under the Department of Public Services. The Plumbing Law of the Philippines,
or RA 1378, was signed on June 18, 1955. The Plumbing Law of the Philippines was signed by
Ramon Magsaysay. The Department of Education authorized the Plumbing Engineering
curriculum from 1966 to 1969. Plumbing was established as a curriculum or study at Feati
University. Jaime M. Cabase, NAMPAP president, was the driving force behind the revision of
the Revised National Plumbing Code in 1996. The new plumbing code was authorized by Joseph
Estrada. The code was adopted on December 21, 1999. NAMPAP then presented the draft code
to the board of master plumbers in October 1999, which was the first time they developed a
board examination.
3. Summarize the “Basic Principle of the Plumbing Code”?
All buildings designed for human use they need to have a supply of clean and healthy
water that not linked to dangerous water supplies. The water should be performed enough
pressure in plumbing equipment to work effectively without loud noises when you used to
operate it. Plumbing must be built perfectly to utilize the smallest volume so that it works
effectively. The device used in storing water must placed in a safe place and far from a possible
explosion. The sidewalk sewage should be designed properly. All houses are designed to have a
proper sewer and a separate sanitation service you must have at least one in the kitchen and the
shower or toilet room must be built to fulfill the sanitary condition in proper hygiene standards.
The housed should have ventilated containers in such a way build by non-absorbent material and
free form contaminating surfaces. The drainage system must be built properly to prevent staining
and obstruction with enough cleanouts in such a way the pipes can be easily maintained. The
materials should be NAMPAP approved and planned manufactured by registers master in
plumbing to guarantee a good service when it comes to pipes. A water-sealed traps must be
installed in each device that is directly linked to the drainages. The drainage pipe system must be
constructed to allow enough airflow without pushing of the traps seals. The vent terminals must
be extended outside the airflow and placed to avoid blockage and the transmission of bad air into
the structure. You must test the plumbing system to reveal any leaks. Prevent the drainage
system that will block the pipes that will make a damage of your operation. The backflow of
sewage must be well protected safety issues and the drainage system must be linked to the
building drainage system. A water closet must not be situated in a space that is not adequately as
well as ventilated. When water tanks and other pipes are built in the structure where there is no
sewer within a reasonable distance, appropriate provisions must be provided for disposing of the
building sewage using an acceptable sewage treatment and disposal techniques such as septic
tanks. When sewage backflows into a plumbing drainage system, appropriate measures must be
taken to prevent sewage from overflowing into the facility. The registered mastered plumbers are
the only one who can do the job when it comes to water resources. They are the only one wo is
accessible to place and fix the plumbing system.
4. Explain and interpret in your own words the Plumbing Cycle?
The plumbing explains the source of a building's water supply is determined by a variety
of criteria, including location constraints and cost considerations among others. Water can be
obtained from a metered municipal water supply, wells, tapped springs or rivers, or rainwater
storage. The source is the first one in the plumbing cycle like lakes, rivers, and reservation this is
where the main water supply comes. The next one is the supply the supplies are where water
mains and storage tanks. Distribution is where the pressure of piping networks this is when the
water supplies water to us the users. The next one is use where we encountered plumbing
fixtures when something is wrong in the system, they fix it. The next one is the collection this is
where gravity, piping and networks. The next one is disposal this is where sanitary and storm
sewers come means this is all the dispose water came from our drainage sewage. And the last
one is treatment this is the sewage plants and natural purification; we all knew that plants could
produce or needs water this called natural because it came from the plants.
5. How would you apply what you learned to design an effective Plumbing System?
The design that we learn is very convenience and effective when creating a drainage
system because we can determine where and when do we put plumbing system when we were
installing in our structures by following what we learn. The plumbing system in your home is
determined by the decisions you make while designing one. The foundation of an efficient
plumbing system is a structure that conserves water and energy. Maybe we can still encounter
some of the problem but there are a lot of solution that we are going to learn in this course. Short
runs between plumbing fittings using attempting to cut materials are key features of a successful
design. Ventilation stacks in the drainage system allow drainpipes to breathe while moving
sewage waste through the sewer pipes.
6. What would be the result if the Plumbing code will not be strictly followed?
To guarantee design compatibility, follow local construction codes before beginning to
design a house for water pipes, drainage, disposal, and ventilation systems. The number of
outlets that can be on a vent stack, on a room's drainage system, or where pipelines and drainage
must be located inside the walls are all limited by plumbing rules. Building management
authorities give information on the codes they follow as well as specifics on where they break
from government standards. Before you start designing your home, check with your local
building authority to be sure your plumbing design is up to code. The result when the plumbing
code is not followed is we can encounter many problems for example you were putting drainage
pipes in your bathroom, but you didn’t dig well because we all knew that when building a
drainage you have to make it deeper because if you didn’t dig it well you are going to encounter
foul smell or it can cause blockage in your drainage.
