Suppi (a.k.a.

Spinel Sun) Amigurumi Pattern

I created a pattern for Suppi (a.k.a.
Spinel Sun in chibi form) from the
shojo manga series Cardcaptor
Sakura by Clamp. I have to say,
crocheting in black is horrible! I
could barely count the stitches as I
was making the pieces. I
recommend a bring light overhead
when crocheting this little guy.

Unless otherwise stated, work in

continuous rounds. Also, I assume
that you have basic knowledge in
crochet. If not there are many tutorials on YouTube. Good luck!

Materials Required:
 Black and blue coloured yarn
 12mm safety nose
 Fibrefill
 3.5mm (E) hook
 Yarn needle
 Pink and blue felt
 Sewing needle and thread

Row 14-16: ch 1, turn, 12sc

Single crochet along the two sides of the triangle but not the
bottom (approximately 15sc on each side). The bottom of the
triangle will not need to be finished as it already has proper
loops.

F/O and leave a long tail for only the black pieces. All this work
helps to create a clean line around the edge of the ear when the
pieces of sewn together.

Tail:
Using Black
Row 1: ch 41
Row 2: inc in 2nd chain from hook, 9inc, 30sc
F/O and leave a long enough tail to attach the piece to the body.

F/O and leave a long tail for attaching
the eyes to the head. Using Black yarn,
loop it through the eye piece to make the
slits.

Wings: (Make 2)
Cut out a dragonfly wing from blue felt. You
will need 4 pieces. Sew 2 pieces together
around the edge and stuff firmly.

Assembly:
1. Lightly stuff the head to get a rough shape.
Position the safety nose on the head before
securing. The nose should be slightly lower
than centre on the face portion.
2. Attach the head to the body with the tail from
the head. Use a whip stitch on the head.
Position the head so that the beginning of the
neck portion is flush with the body to create a
smooth line upwards.
3. Single crochet a blue piece of ear to the black
piece of ear with the tail from the black piece.
Go all the way around the ear to create the black outline.
4. You may wish to block the ears to flatten
them before shaping. Attach the ears to the
head. This will require substantial pinning to get
the ears in the desired position. Place the
bottom of the triangle against the head when
attaching. Ensure that the ear is curving
5. Attach the limbs to the body with the various
tails from each piece. I used a whip stitch again.
Pin all the limbs in the desired position before
attaching. Add extra stuffing to the legs while attaching to
create the shoulder pieces.
6. Attach the wings to the body with blue
thread. I just weaved in and out of the body
and the wings. Make sure the stitching is
tight and sturdy or else the wings will begin
to droop.
7. Attach the tail to the body. Position the tail
equally between the wings and legs.
8. Either use the crocheted eyes or cut out
blue semi-circles and a thin black line of felt

Page 8
Suppi (a.k.a. Spinel Sun) Amigurumi Pattern
for the eyes. Sew the thin strip of black felt in the middle of
the semi-circle. Position the eyes on Suppi before sewing
them in place. You can also needle felt the eyes on.
9. If you wish to attach a mouth you can use some pink felt and
shape it as I have in the picture above. In the manga Suppi
never opens his mouth however the anime does. I made a
creative decision and added one to make him cuter.

Now it’s complete!

Hope you enjoyed making this!

And just in case for legal reasons....
