Remarks
Description / A Room for SPECT/CT scanning procedures with an adjacent Control Room and Equipment Room. The
Special Requirements Control Room and Equipment room will need to be located in close proximity due to acceptable cable lengths.
The Control Room may be shared between two SPECT/CT Scanning Rooms. The SPECT/CT room will be
located with ready access to patient dosing areas. General anaesthesia may be administered in this room.
Additional Design Considerations: Radiation shielding as advised by Radiation Consultant. Cable ducts
between Control Room, Equipment room and imaging room will be required. Heat and noise generated by
equipment to be considered for patient comfort may require equipment room. Some models of SPECT/CT
require three phase power to be supplied. Observation window required where patient observation cameras are
not in use. 'X-ray in Use' lights are required outside each entry door. Dimmable downlights are recommended,
placed to avoid glare to patients. Equipment should be installed to manufacturer's specifications with sufficient
clearance for equipment maintenance. UPS power is required to the SPECT camera and control equipment.
Room temperature and humidity control is required. Consideration to be given to equipment delivery route
clearances.
