durability; fade resistance, and flame-resistance characteristics.

B. Shop Drawings showing location and extent of each wall covering type. Indicate seams and
termination points.

C. Samples for initial selection in the form of manufacturer’s colour charts consisting of actual
units or sections of units showing the full range of colours, textures, and patterns available.

D. Samples for verification in sets for each colour, texture, and pattern specified, showing the full
range of variations expected in these characteristics.

G. Maintenance data for wall covering to include in the operation and maintenance manual
specified in Division 1 Sections.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Quality System: Furnish products and materials produced by manufacturer holding valid ISO
9001/9002 Quality System certificates.

B. Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer who has completed 5 projects similar
in material, design, and extent to that indicated for this Project and with a record of successful
in-service performance.

C. Fire-Test-Response Characteristics: Provide wall coverings with the following surface-

burning characteristics as determined by testing identical products per ASTM E 84 by UL or
another testing and inspecting agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.

1. Flame Spread: 25 or less

2. Smoke Developed: 450 or less

D. Mock-up: The Contractor shall submit wall covering mock-up for the approval of the Engineer.
The mock-ups shall be erected with materials approved by Engineer under sample submittal.
The mock-ups shall be full wall height and not less than 2.20 meters in width and shall show
pattern module and joint and other aesthetic effects. Mock-up approved by the Engineer may
become part of the permanent works if undisturbed or damaged at time of Substantial
completion as judged solely by the Engineer.

1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Space Enclosure and Environmental Limitations: Do not install wall covering until space is
enclosed and weatherproof, wet-work in space is completed and nominally dry, work above
ceilings is complete, and ambient temperature and humidity conditions are and will be
continuously maintained at values near those indicated for final occupancy.

B. Lighting: Do not install wall covering until a lighting level of not less than 160 lux is provided
on the surfaces to receive wall covering.

C. Ventilation: Provide continuous ventilation during installation and for not less than the time
recommended by the wall covering manufacturer for full drying or curing.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 HEAVY-DUTY, SYNTHETIC, TEXTILE WALL COVERING

A. Textile Composition: As stated in Finished Schedule.

B. Backing Material: Acrylic

C. Protection coating: DuPont Teflon fabric protector, or other protective coating

acceptable to Engineer.

D. Total Weight: 275 gm/m2 minimum.

E. Colour and Pattern: As indicated in Finish Schedule and verified by sample approved
by the Engineer. Data sheet of fabric is to indicate for any stain
protection time allowable or available to remove stain before
penetrating through the fabric. Post sprayed-on protection
coating shall not be accepted.

F. Durability Standard: Category V, Type II Commercial Serviceability to ASTM F793

covering and substrate application, as recommended by wall covering manufacturer.

2.3 ACCESSORIES

A. Wall Liner: Non-woven, synthetic underlayment and adhesive as recommended by wall

covering manufacturer.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine substrates for compliance with requirements for moisture content and other
conditions affecting performance of Work of this Section. Do not proceed with installation until
unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Comply with manufacturers' written instructions for surface preparation.

B. Clean substrates of substances that could impair wall covering’s bond, including mould,
mildew, oil, grease, incompatible primers, and dirt.

C. Prepare substrates to achieve a smooth, dry, clean surface free of flaking, unsound coatings,
cracks, and defects.

1. Painted Surfaces: Treat areas susceptible to pigment bleeding.

2. Moisture Content: Maximum of 5 percent on new plaster, concrete and concrete
masonry units when tested with an electronic moisture meter.
3. Allow new plaster to cure. Treat areas of high alkalinity.

D. Check painted surfaces for pigment bleeding. Sand gloss, semi-gloss, and eggshell finishes
with fine sandpaper.

E. Install wall liner, with no gaps or overlaps, where required by wall covering manufacturer.
Form smooth wrinkle-free surface for finished installation. Do not begin wall covering
installation until wall liner has dried.
