Creating an Appropriate Learning Environment
Revisit the Learning Essentials
The classroom climate that is conducive for learning is one that is nonthreatening yet business-like. It is a
classroom where, when creating audio-visual presentations, the following are observed:
Specific classroom rules and procedures are clear.
Classroom rules and procedures are discussed within the first few days of the school.
Students are involved in the design of rules and procedures
Techniques to acknowledge and reinforce acceptable behavior are employed.
Clear limits for unacceptable behavior are established and negative consequences for such are
communicated.
Classroom processes are democratic.
OBSERVE
Observe and use the observation sheet provided for you to document your observations.
1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their ages. Ranges from 15-17
years old
Observing them when they submit their modules (online class is not available), some were
malnourish but some were normal. Most of them were tall enough on the other size, small
percentage of them was short.
19 are boys
23 are girls
3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behavior?
Somehow, based on the module they submit, most of them finished the whole module but partially
some were not. Some of them were responsible and noteworthy for their hard work but some were
not.
Based on the modules, YES, because they answer some activity and quizzes splendidly.
ANALYZE
Analyze and answer these questions on observed classroom management practices. It is also good to ask
the teacher for additional information, so you can validate your observation. Write your notes below; and then
organize your data in the Table that follows.
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids, books, students' belongings,
supplies, etc.)? Describe these areas. Will it make a difference if these areas for specific purposes are not
present?
The classroom is set out in the typical and traditional Philippine high-school manner, with a blackboard
in front of the room and a table in the front center. At the back of the room, there is a long table where
students can store their stuff. A tiny cabinet is located near the window on the left side of the classroom.
It's where you'll find some of the past students' old projects and work. The majority of the wall displays
are on the right side and back of the wall. Despite the fact that it does not create an active learning
environment, the way it is organized promotes good learning among pupils.
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? List them down. Do these rules reinforce positive
behavior?
3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? If the Resource Teacher is available, ask him/her
to describe the process. What is the effect of students' participation in rule-making on students’ behavior?
According to the teacher, she didn’t know because it was establish before she was assigned on that
classroom. These rules were intended for face to face but she was assigned after face to face was
changed into modular one.
4. What are the daily routines done by the Resource Teacher? (prayer, attendance, assignment of monitors,
warm-up activities etc.) How are they done?
To start the class, the teacher greets the students and asks a representative from the class to lead the
prayer. Then, she asks everybody how they are doing. Usually students say they are doing well. She
also record the attendance through calling the students’ last name. After that, she proceeds with the
lesson by a motivational activity. (This was done in the past when it still face to face according to the
Resource Teacher)
5. Is there a sitting arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement? Does this help in managing the class?
The class was seated based on height. But in the case of students with difficulties in sight or hearing,
she lets them be seated in front. Using this arrangement, the teacher easily identifies the absent students.
This also helps her to recognize a student’s face especially in time of discussion to distinguish who were
not listening to her. (This was done in the past when it still face to face according to the Resource
Teacher)
The noise level in a high school classroom is pretty high since kids prefer to converse a lot with their
classmates. During the discussion, all of the pupils are really engaged and eager to give their responses.
The teacher, on the other hand, maintains calm when she tells them to reduce their voices. She informs
them that there are other classrooms that their loud noises may disrupt. (This was done in the past when
it still face to face according to the Resource Teacher)
7. If a learner is not following instruction or is off-task, what does the Resource Teacher do? Describe the
behavior strategies used.
Resource Teacher: Ramos, Fredie P. Teacher's Signature Grader/Year Level: Grade 9&10
School: San Cristobal National High School Subject Area: Mathematics Date: Nov. 28, 2021
Some pupils, particularly when working on their assignments, do not follow instructions. Although the
teacher accepts their work, she warns the students to pay attention to the instructions for less confusion
in checking. (This was done in the past when it still face to face according to the Resource Teacher)
8. What does the Resource Teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors? (behavior strategies)
Problems should be addressed in a polite manner. She doesn't reprimand them; instead, she speaks
quietly to them.
Celebrate achievements through praising them.
Give them incentives or awards to encourage them to work harder.
Make the class conversation interesting and enjoyable.
Include activities that encourage teamwork and peer teaching.
(This was done in the past when it still face to face according to the Resource Teacher)
REFLECT
Reflection as a future teacher.
Positive discipline must be enforced in order to effectively manage the classroom. Even if the pupils are
well-behaved, there are unanticipated occurrences that test the patience of the teachers. Positive
discipline must be enforced among students in order to positively address problems that may develop in
the classroom without being too harsh on children. Students will have fewer negative thoughts about
themselves, which will result in fewer undesirable behaviors or reactions. This will also aid the teacher
in instilling positive ideals in the children. Furthermore, pupils will be accountable for their actions,
reasonable, critical, and capable of making sound decisions in a variety of scenarios.

OBSERVE
ANALYZE
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’ behavior?
Classroom order and routine have a favorable impact on students' behavior by making them more
responsible and assisting them in better managing their learning. It also boosts their self-esteem,
regulates their behavior, and fosters positive classroom relationships. Students may also be able to learn
self-control, which will help them avoid failing their classes.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when he/she designs the classroom organization and routines?
What theories and principles should you have in mind?
The behaviorist theory, often known as Behaviorism, is concerned with student actions, both positive
and negative. Humanist theory or Humanism is a philosophy that stresses human potential, as well as
the aims, learning styles, and preferences of pupils. Democratic theory: students are given equal
opportunities to engage in educational decision-making and to pick their own educational route.
Psychoanalytic theory in which the instructor must consciously or subconsciously evaluate the student's
thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Cognitive theory should also be taken into account in order to pay
attention to the learners' mental processes and knowledge building.
3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners? In motivating
students? Why were they effective?

Set up a new learner-centered classroom setting so students can be more independent and self-reliant.
To help diverse types of learners, use a wide range of resources, materials, techniques, and strategies in
the classroom. Establish classroom standards, or simply classroom norms, that students can meet.
Effectively reinforce teaching practices and processes. Recognize good behavior and congratulate them
on a job well done. This will not only motivate them, but it will also help them sustain their good
behavior.
REFLECT
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade year level do you see yourself? What
routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why?
I picture myself teaching junior high school children in my Mathematics class in the near future. I shall
begin my lesson with a prayer, which is very important to me. Following that, inquire as to how they
are doing, whether they are happy, how they feel about our issue, and so on. These questions will assist
me in determining the present state of my students' understanding of my lessons. If they ever told me
how they felt about learning my subject, I could quickly figure out what tactics I need to implement to
meet their needs. Then there are the standard procedures such as attendance, incentive activities, and
genuine conversation with regular questioning to ensure comprehension.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose these rules?
Students should be involved in the creation of classroom rules in order to help them develop leadership
abilities and understand the importance of taking responsibility for their own actions and behavior. It
also allows students and teachers to work together to agree on the regulations that must be established.
Making the rules, on the other hand, should be guided by the teachers, as they are the ones who are
familiar with the guidelines and know how to conduct a productive discussion about the rules to be
included.
