I. Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, the students will be able to do the following with
75% accuracy:
a) To define the meaning of reflection and recognize the types of reflection:
b) To internalize the relationship between the angle of incidence and angle of
reflection;
c) To illustrate the two (2) types of reflection.
II. Subject Matter:
Topic: Reflection of Light

Materials: (Visual Aide) manila paper, cartolina, colored paper, construction
paper
Cut-out paper strips, pictures bond paper and foil.
Skills: Listening Skills and Communication
Values Integration: Compassion and Cooperation
III. Procedures:
Teacher’s Activity Students Activity
Routinely Activity

- “Good Morning Class” - “Good Morning Teacher ____”

- May I request everyone to stand up - (One student will lead of paper)
please! Let’s have a prayer first.
(Teacher will call a student to lead
a prayer.)
- Okay! Arrange your chairs, - (Students’ pick up the pieces of
straighten your lines and please do paper)
pick up the pieces of paper under
your chairs.
- Everybody please takes your seat!
- (Checking the attendance) - “Yes, Teacher!”
- “Is everyone present today?”
- Alright! That’s great!

Developmental Activities:
1) Activity
- “Okay, now class let me ask you, - “It’s the reflection of our face,
what can you see every time you Teacher!”
see your self in the mirror? Its
you’re what?
- “Yes! That’s correct!
It’s the reflection or the reflection
of yourself.”
- “Okay, how about in this picture?” - (Students will answer)
“It is also reflection, Cher!”
- “That’s awesome!
It is also a reflection or the
resemblance of the image itself.”
- “Give hands to each and every one
class!”
- “Now, before we start our lesson,
let’s have an activity first…”
- “Since, you already have an idea - “Okay, Teacher!”
about the picture I’ve shown you
earlier. Group yourselves into four
group.”
- “Start counting from 1- 4.” - (Students starts counting)
- “Go to your respective group.”
- “Okay! So, I have here an
envelope with pieces of cut-out
papers inside...”
“With the help of the ideas we
had…All you have to do is to
complete or construct the given
pieces to make it a phrase.”
- “Everyone should and must
cooperate.”
- “Okay, now listen!”
- “Each group are having the same
numbers of cut-outs. But there is
one piece that does not belong to
your group.”
- “So, to be able to complete the
constructions, you will choose one
representative from your members
to roam around and check on the
missing piece from the other
group.”
- “As you will notice, the piece that
does not belong to you has a
different color.”
- “Did you get me class?” - “Yes, Teacher!”
- “I’ll be giving you a small piece of
manila paper, wherein you’re
going to put your output.”
- “The first group that will be able
to finish it immediately will be
given an additional point as well as
another incentive.”
- “I’ll be giving you time (5) - “Yes, Teacher!”
minutes to finish ourselves, clear?”
- “Okay! Good Luck!” - (The students started doing their
activity.)
- “Class, if you’re done, post your - (Each representative of the group
finished output on the board. You went quickly to the board and put
choose only one representative to their output.)
put your output.” - REFLECTION OF LIGHT
- “May everybody be seated.” -
- “What have you constructed?” - “It’s REFLECTION OF LIGHT,
teacher!”
- “Okay, very good class! You are
all amazing!”

2) Analysis
- “So, prior to the picture we had
and the one we’ve constructed and
as well as the question I’ve ask
you earlier about you and the
mirror…”
“What can you tell about the
constructed pieces?”
“What it is all about?”
- (The teacher will call four (4) - Student 1: “It is all about the
students from each group) Reflection of Light, Teacher.”
- Student 2: “Reflection of Light,
Cher.”
- Student 3: “All about the
Reflection of Light, Cher.”
- Student 4: “Reflection of Light,
Teacher.”
- “Alright! All your answers are - “Teacher, I guess its all about the
correct, class!” reflection that strikes a surface like
- “But, what about the Reflection of mirror.”
Light?”
- “Do you have any idea about it
class?”
- “Okay, that’s correct!”
- “So, lets have first the word
REFLECTION.”
- “What come into your mind when - (Students will answer with their
you hear the word reflection?” own ideas)
- “Okay, very good! How about - (Students will answer)
LIGHT?” - “Light is the sensation arrowed by
stimulation of the visual
receptors.”
- “Okay, brilliant!” - “Light is something that makes
vision impossible.”
- “Light is an electromagnetic
radiation of any wavelength that
travels in a vacuum.”
- “Okay! Very good class!

3) Abstraction
- “Okay! Since, we’re all able to
define Reflection and Light our
topic is all about REFLECTION
OF LIGHT.”
- “So, to illustrate it further,
Reflection is the bouncing back of
light into same medium it has been
traveling after striking a surface.”
- “I have here an illustration of the
Reflection of Light.”

- “So, all you noticed this is an

incidence ray, reflection ray,
normal, angle of incidence and
angle of reflection.”
- “So, going back to the illustration, - (The students will answer in their
what do you observe, class?” own opinion of their observation.)
- “Yes, definitely!”
- “So here, the INCIDENT RAY is
the ray that strikes the surface
while the REFLECTED RAY is
the ray that rebounds from the
surface.”
- “Did you get me class?” - “Yes, teacher!”
- “Okay, listen attentively everyone
because later on I’ll let you label
this.”
- “So, this line in the middle is what
we call the NORMAL- a line that
is perpendicular to the surface at
the point of incidence.
- “The POINT OF INCIDENCE is
the point on the surface.
- “See the difference, class?” - “Yes, teacher!”
- “Okay, let me show you an
example image of the regular or
specular reflection and diffuse
reflection.”
- “Later on, we will be having an - “Okay, teacher!”
activity wherein you are going to
identify whether the image is said
to be a regular reflection or diffuse
reflection.”
- “Alright! Great!”
- “Okay, so in Reflection of Light
there is also the Laws of
Reflection:”
1. The angle of incidence is equal
to the angle of reflection that is
σi  σr;
2. The incident ray, the normal,
and the reflected ray all lie on
one plane.
- “Okay, to apply the law, lets
LAWS this sample problem:”
- “A ray of light is incident on a
surface at 33 from the normal.
Find the angle between the
incidence ray and the reflected ray.
where the incident ray strikes the
surface.”
- “Given the angle of incidence, that - “The angle between the incident
is equal to 33, with the help of the ray and the reflected is 66.”
Laws of Reflection, it follows that
the angle of Reflection is also 33.
Therefore, the angle between the
incident ray and the reflected ray
is?”
- “Okay! Brilliant Class!”
- “Again, what do you call the ray - “It’s the incident ray, teacher.”
that strikes the surface?”
- “Okay, perfect!”
- “How about the ray that rebounds - “It’s the reflected ray, teacher.”
from the surface?”
- “So again, what do you call the - “It is the angle of incidence,
angle between the incident ray and teacher.”
the normal?”
- “Alright, very good!”
- “What about the angle between the - “It is the angle of reflection,
reflected ray and the normal?” teacher.”
- “Okay, it seems that you
understand the terminologies we
had.”
- “Okay, Ailee will you please put - (Ailee labeled…)
this term (NORMAL) to its correct
location.”
- “Okay, very good! - (Antonio labeled…)
- “How about the angle of
incidence? Will you please do this
Antonio?”
- “Okay, very good Antonio!
- “How about angle of reflection? - (Ray labeled…)
Will you do the honor please
Ray?”
- “Very Good Ray!”
- “How about the incidence ray? - (Raven labeled…)
Raven please….”
- “Okay, very good!
- “How about the incidence ray? - (Kaye labeled…)
Kaye please….”
- “Okay! Excellent! Give hands to
Alle, Antonio, Ray, Raven and
Kaye! Good Job!
- “So, in continuation to that one,
we have two (2) types of
Reflection: The Regular or
Specular Reflection and Diffuse
Reflection.”
- “So, Regular or Specular
Reflection is the reflection from
the smooth surface while Diffuse
Reflection is the reflection from
the rough surfaces.”
- “Okay listen now class. In - (Students listen attentively)
addition, diffuse reflection is more
common than regular reflection.
The walls, ceiling, floors and must
of the objects inside your room
have small imperfections on their
surface and are not as polished as
mirrors… Hence, rough surfaces
scatter the light incident upon
them.”
- “Specular or Regular Reflection is - (Students listen attentively)
an important principle in a
reflecting telescope. Now would
not be able to see your image in a
mirror without a regular
reflection.”
- “Again, what is the reflection that - “Regular or Specular Reflection,
comes from the smooth surface?” Teacher!”
- “Okay, very good class!
- “How about the reflection from the - “Diffuse Reflection, Teacher!”
rough surfaces.”
- “Okay, very good class!
- “Now, I have here an illustration
of the types of reflection.

- “Did you get me, class?” - “Yes, Teacher!”

- “Is everybody clear?” - “Yes, Teacher!”
- “If you have questions to ask or - “None, Teacher!”
any clarification just approach
me.”
- “Okay, since you don’t have
questions we will now proceed to
our activity.”

4) Application:
- “Okay, everybody stands up. Form - (Students form their lines)
two (2) lines, since you are 22 all
in all, each group should have 11
members.
- “Everybody faces on the board, -
Group 1 here and Group 2 on this
side…”
- “As you can see, there are tables -
here, and each table are divided
into two (2) columns: The Regular
or Specular Reflection and Diffuse
Reflection. Now each group are
provided with different pictures of
Diffuse and Regular Reflection.”
- “Now listen, I will give you three -
(3) minutes to do the Activity.”
- “Each of you will participate, the -
participate member in line will
choose two (2) pictures, one (1)
for the regular or specular
reflection and other one (1) is for
the diffuse reflection and then
followed by the next member,
same procedure and so on and so
forth…”
- “Remember class I am giving you - “Okay, Teacher!”
three (3) minutes to do your task,
time awareness and time
management class please…
Okay!”
- “Alright, three (3) minutes starts - (Students doing the activity)
now…”
Three (3) minutes up
- “Okay, time is up class! Let’s
check if your answers are correct.
- “Okay! Very good class! All your
answer is correct! Very excellent!
- “Give hands to each and every one
class,”

5) Assessment:
- “Okay class, everybody be seated.
Get   sheet of paper
lengthwise.”
- “Directions: Read the questions
completely and give the correct
answer. For identification we have
ten (10) items, and for illustration
five (5) points and additional five
